Do u enjoy the newer games or older games.
I'm talking about the old systems compared to the new systems. I know a lot of people are going to say the new ones cause the graphics are better (THEN WHY ARE YOU ON THIS WEBSITE!!!) but some people who grew up on the old systems nes and stuff might enjoy the older systems better.

For example i have this little neighbor who loves pokemon. Now since pokemon came out when i was young i love the old ones(crystal being my favorite) and i tried to get him to play it or gold and silver but he refused to, because he said the graphics were not good enough, even though he copies me about everything like when i got a wii he had to get one when i got a 360 he had to get one(keep in mind he's going into 4th grade and he has more M games than i do) i got a ds he had to get one... etc. Some people may just say that those are common things to get but trust me he copies everthing he even quit baseball and started to play soccer cause he said that we could hang out and play together(I'm in high school don't really wanna hang out with him). Wow I'm going to stop cause this thread got way off topic.

Just leave a comment in the thread about old games vs. new games, or if u want to comment about your annoying neighbor :p

I like older games. Not OLD OLD but OLD... like PSX, N64, and DC... but these new systems like PS2, PS3, XBOX, WII... I don't care for probably cause I'm broke and can't afford any of em But nothing beats the old stuff!

Whoever plays a game for graphics... I really feel sorry for them. It's like watching a movie for special effects... kinda pointless. I would much rather play a game with crap graphics and killer storyline then play a sugarcoated eye candy game with horrible game play and boring stories.

yeah i agree i like rpgs like final fantasy,dragon warrior, etc and the ones on this website are sweet, but when companys try to put all their time, money, and effort into the graphics of the game and think that they can get away with a short mostly over used storyline it's stupid cause thats what a lot of games are now adays

Agreed! I'm 13 and I don't give a crap about graphics, unlike almost everybody my age. Seriously, it's just, like you said, a movie with terrible gameplay.

It's like saying that Zelda Twilight Princess is better than Ocarina of Time just because of the graphics. I mean, yeah, graphics make games look better and a bit more enjoyable. Who doesn't love eye candy? But when it all comes down to it, storyline and gameplay is better than graphics.

the very best older game is deffentaly final fantasy 5

its has an epic story line with great charcters and battles

the way the charcters just connect abnd care about each other is tottally awesome

i love it with everything i got : )

i like the old classic games but its ok to play them both to know all the changes

I grew up on the newer systems, but I personally think that SNES and PS1 are the best systems. I care about graphics, but its not the deciding factor.

To an extent I totally agree but games like sports simulation games seem to be a lot more fun; the more realistic they are.

There is some older games (Nes, SMS, Super Nintendo, and Genesis) that I prefer over newer ones (PS2, Xbox, 360, PS3) and there are some newer games I prefer over older games.

The people who only play games based on graphics to give these old games a try before the judge them. These new games today lack what the old games had years before them and being a old school gamer myself I can tell you I would exchange a ps3 for a snes or Dc or a genesis in a heartbeat.

I don't know... I like the old games, but I have most of the newer systems.

The older games do have that cool charm that lots of people like, but graphic wise the newer games are way better.

Please can i find somebody who gives me right when i say that the " SEGA / GAME BOY / NES / SNES " Aera was the greatest of all time ?!?!

The last console i bought was a PS 1 and that's a hell long time ago and my favourite game was Tekken 3...besides i didn't have that much other games for the PS 1 xD xD !

After the PS 1 consoles maybe got better graphics in the games and stuff, but the games started sucking bigtime, most of the time.

There aren't really like characters anymore, you know what i am saying ? Where are the Mario's, Sonic's etc. nowadays ?

I prefer playing games with the Emulators and enjoy the pleasures of my childhood and celebrate the good old days of videogames.

So in my opinion, the older games and consoles will always rule !

The only thing what could change my mind is, if they finally invent a cool VR Helmet with gaming experience ! That would be epic !

It really depends. Most old games seemed to have more interesting stories. A lot of new games are just rehashes of other games in the genre. Then again, old games are from when I was a kid, and it was all new. New games have to be pretty interesting and different to really make them stand out.

Halo redefined FPS games, and so did Gears of War - but so many people have tried to copy them without improving or changing much of anything on them. That's fine to a degree, but eventually it gets old, and that tends to happen sooner than people think.

However, most games generally tend to fall into at least one of four catagories: war, post-apocalyptic, superhero-esque, or tetris.

The only " newer " games i really loved were Metal Gear Solid and Zelda : Ocarina of time for the N64, and that's already " old " because it's over 10 years ago !

Nowadays i can barely find a specific game standing out. There are always new parts of old games coming, barely something new and there is just something missing !

Like i said before, graphics got better, but when it comes to story's, REAL fun and characters, no chance.


Personal note for me : The only Computer Game i am looking forward now is " Aliens vs. Predator 3 ", although Part 2 also sucked and the first one was better...

I haven't played too many "new" games. The last console I owned was the SNES. I played a lot on the PS1/N64 era consoles but since then I've avoided them. Games became more and more about graphics and less about storyline or gameplay. Sure, I generalize but I find that older rpg's (which are what I play the most) have better storyline's because there was so little to do by way or graphics.... storyline and gameplay had to be good. It's not like that as much anymore.

and AVP3? Really? I doubt I'll be able to run it but that's sweet I liked the AVP games.
