Apparently My little pony appeals to older males because they feel it has a captivating story line, wholesome clean fun , and  witty humor  followed by above average graphics and design on the characters portrayed in the show. To be honest my  first reaction/though of 20+ year old men liking a show meant for little kids (especially female children) was that the guys watching it were pedophiles but I've come to find out the show is actually better then half the garbage they show on TV now days and the older man fans of the show enjoy it because of the fact it does have a decent story line and dialog and its some what funny.

mariowin13 : First off I doubt any of us hate you, And I never said that the show was made specifically made for little girls, Now you're taking what others have said are are twisting it for your own benefit. The show was made for an entire family to watch while still being geared for little kids to be able to watch without being bored or exposed to material that isn't designed for there age group if you catch my meaning. As for the colors, They're just colors, Who's to say men can't wear pink and still be a man, What if some people had naturally colored pink hair? The whole color thing is just a social stigma and is simply a taboo that people rely on too much to look better.

As for all bronys hating you? Well you kind of just insulted out show, But I doubt any bronys are going to hate you for it, Hell most of us probably aren't even capable of hate to be honest, (Okay no, everyone is capable of hate, But you choose whether or not you hate someone or not, And us bronys hate the aspect of hate.) So what if something is pink or if someone chews you out, If someone chews you out ask yourself if they are right and maybe you can learn something valuable from it. As for something being a "girly" color, Dude... It's a color, Who cares?

One more point I wanted to make was that you said I said that there were more mares (Girls) in the show than stallions (males), Not true at all, Maybe in the first season, But not only did stallions pick up, But they have always been busy at work off screen... I mean unless you want to watch someone sell sofa's and quills all day I'm pretty sure the shows normal episode plot is a little more enjoyable, But that's just my opinion.

The video you posted was rather streo-typical and a bit condecending if you ask me, Have you yourself ever watch a few good episodes of the show? Have you formed your own opinion or have you just allowed yourself to fall into the anti-brony crowd? I'm not accusing I'm asking so don't take this the wrong way please, I want to end this discussion peacefully and not get into a huge argument over this, Actually I'll just walk away if things start to go south. Hopefully it won't come to that though.

A few points I want to expand on a bit: well-written stories, characters, and visuals (animation, locales, etc.).

The stories that each episode tell are not as basic as you might think when watching an episode for the first time. Take Feeling Pinkie Keen' for example. In this episode, Twilight Sparkle doesn't believe that Pinkie Pie has a "Pinkie Sense" --an ability that alerts Pinkie to events that happen in the very-near future. Twilight tries to disprove this by studying Pinkie with empirical research through technology and observation. Twilight eventually gives up as she realizes that she can't disprove the Pinkie Sense. So what did she learn? Here's a copy of her Friendship Letter to Princess Celestia.

"I am happy to report that I now realize there are wonderful things in this world you just can't explain, but that doesn't necessarily make them any less true. It just means you have to choose to believe in them, and sometimes it takes a friend to show you the way."

Kids would probably look at this message for what it is: another reason to have friends is that they can lead you to understand something you can figure out on your own.

Can you guess what some adults think this message, and the episode in its entirety, told? They think that this when arguing in favor of religion. (Because religion and science are totally not compatible in any way. /sarcasm) Incorrect. There are things that I can't explain, and that doesn't mean that that someone else's beliefs are any less true than my own. Basically, the messages are open to interpretation --enough so that I can get many reminders of my faith in Christ Jesus.

Now for my other point. The visuals have such an artistic appeal that is inspires people to create art. With the locales and their fantasy themes, others like to create their own stories beyond the show's canon; just do some browsing around fimfiction.net, you'll see what I mean.

Be careful if want to hear more from me, 'cuz I've only gotten started. I blame the Asperger's for my need to know every detail.

I don't like My little pony... and don't see how most males like it over females. I mean, it was a show made for girls, so why do more boys like it than girls? ._.

rcarter2 : You must be happy that you're not the only one who's thinking so. I actually think the same about My Little Pony.

I don't really understand that people who are around 20 years old, like My Little Pony.  It's a show made for children. Especially for girls.
But I do understand that people like different things. For example ~ The one likes Pokémon and the other likes Mario. Simple right?
I've respect for people who like something like My Little Pony, In my opinion, I think everyone is free about things they like.
Everyone is different and nobody can change that.

Not that I hate My Little Pony but this is just surprising for me.

I agree. I have no idea why the show appeals to an older male audience, let alone females. Sure, maybe there would be some basis if there was an older female audience, but males? It baffles me. I don't want to insult anyone. I just don't know why it appeals to them, either.

Okay i'd just like to interject here... A lot of fans of the show have explained why they think it's a good show and why they like it... at least take the time to read their reasons before simply "agreeing" with the original question and not reading any of the other posts.

Also this thread is rcarter2 simply asking why people like the show... not do you like the show or not... just saiyan.

sonicmcmuffin : Very true. In all honesty, the topic keeps on going to "MLP is for little girls". Wasn't my intention. In all honesty, I think that my question has been answered. I don't want fans of the show to feel the that  they have to make posts here to defend themselves. Since my question has been well answered, I think this can just be closed.

rcarter2 : I know that wasn't your intention, after all i did work with you as a moderator for quite a while, so i do know you wouldn't create a thread to make a pointless debate.

As for people saying the show is for little girls, let them think that way. It's not really a new thought, heck i hear it all the time lol.

Maybe the concept is just weird to them that's all. I mean a show is liked by someone other than the target demographic... WHAT IS THIS SORCERY X3

Anyways i shall close this as asked by the thread creator.
