What do you think of Yu-Gi-Oh going for a downfall? Are you still a big fan of Yu-Gi-Oh?
By this I mean, not as many people are playing the card game, and not to many people watch the anime. SO,re you one of the few people like me who has hung on to Yu-Gi-Oh and has tried to keep the whole thing alive?

I agree, the new cards are WAY overpowered, the anime is lame, and there hasn't been a decent video game is FOREVER.

Well, the downfall was kind of inevitable, I mean, just think about this. It all started as a manga. It was simply called "Yu-Gi-Oh!" and it first appeared in Weekly Shonen Jump in 1996. Just in case you don't know, the game "Duel Monsters" didn't come into the manga until chapter 9, the same chapter that Kaiba came in. So basically, the original purpose of Yu-Gi-Oh wasn't to become a trading card game, but rather just an entertaining manga that would eventually become an anime.
But that wasn't the case. Thanks to the extreme popularity of the card game "Magic and Wizards (known today as Duel Monsters)" that appeared in the manga and anime (referring to the first anime that was aired in Japan only in 1998. It was based entirely on the manga), Kazuki Takahashi, the writer and illustrater of the manga series, decided to make another manga as the continuation of the first series, but this time centered entirely on the card game. This was called Yugioh Duelist. This series was so popular, they decided to make another anime for it. This one, named YuGiOh Duel Monsters, was the series that was dubbed in America.
After the ultimate success of the anime, Konami, now in charge of YuGiOh, decided to release the card game, known simply as Yugioh Official Card Game. The game was the biggest hit yet. Nearly everyone who enjoyed the anime and manga tried to find out about the game. Most of the longtime fans who wanted to own a piece of it went to buy their favorite cards from the media. And even newcomers tried out the game because everyone else was playing it.
It then carried on to 3 more animes, each with a manga series accompanying them, new game rules and card types, 2 movies, fast food kids menu toys, figures and other collectables, and even a bunch of video games.
So, in Japan, YuGiOh is still very popular and defiantly not on a downfall. But now, we go over to the US and check on the very same thing. YuGiOh fans are scarce, the popularity is rapidly decreasing, and the anime is being criticized more than ever. But, you can't blame them for not liking the anime because, in my opinion, the dub of the anime is terrible. So, it is on the downfall.
But, all hope for Yugioh is not lost. If you're like me, a huge fan of the game as well as the anime and all of the manga series, then you know that the game shouldn't go out so easily. Unfortunately, we fans can't do much about it because we don't have much power. So, I say we just wait and continue to enjoy the game as we always did,and see how much longer it fares, and possibly see if it gets super popular yet again. Now maybe if they find a way to make the holographic technology real... Okay, I won't get into that.
So, in the end, I'm a Yu-Gi-Oh fan and I will always be one. It's also my duty to help keep it all alive.
Thanks for reading this whole thing.

I liked the first series of Yu-Gi-Oh with Yugi and Atem. the second series with Jaden Yuki was a complete joke, Jaden's voice, his cards, his deck annoyed me so much I couldn't even finish first season of it.
My particular favorite season of it was season 2 and 3, Battle City tournament and the Battle City Finals.
I think the reason it has taken a substantial downfall is because they're putting TOO MUCH of an emphasis on effect cards. I barley even see non-effect *normal* monster cards anymore. and then they have type effect monsters, that work hand in hand with other cards of a set, like the Ninja series and Six Samurai series, which makes them over powered by a lot. and then XYZ summoning is hugely overpowered, you don't even need a fusion card. I used to have a good deck back in season 1 but now there's like at least a thousand cards to look over, and I can't even do that without my brain feeling like it was gonna explode.

I don't like the one bit. I liked a lot of the series and the card game in general and I couldn't imagian him going down.  A lot of people don't like the anime but I do.. the card game did get more bigger and better it seemed though.

I am still a fan of the game and show even though I have not watched the anime in years and I have not had cards in years either. But, I'm still going to be a fan for a long time because I liked the originals so much.

SetoKaiba1025 : I completely agree with you. I also try to keep the game I love called Yu-Gi-Oh, alive. I actually try to hold mini tournaments in my back yard on every other Sunday. But, konami has my prayers and hopes to bring yugioh back up to its peak.

I really only liked the originals, and that was a while ago, when they would actually air the show on 4kids. I would watch it every single week with my friend, and we would always go out and either get a pack or a box (on rare occasions) whenever I was over at his house. I used to play the game pretty frequently, but it seemed like the kids in my neighborhood either liked collecting sports cards or Pokemon cards, so it never lasted very long, and very few people were even willing to play with me. Nowadays, they have those odd black and white cards and the TV show (in my opinion) is becoming significantly worse. I probably won't go back to it except for the nostalgia (and so we can make jokes about Kaiba being a jerk).

I actually enjoyed all the series up to and including Yu-Gi-Oh 5D's.  Zexal was a fairly lame/weak series, but XYZ monsters was interesting enough of a mechanic to keep me interested.  I do agree that the powercreep has affected this game very strongly, and it looks like things might get even more broken with the introduction of Arc-V and Pendulum summons.  Guess we'll have to see how it all plays out to see if this is the final straw for Yu-Gi-Oh.  Oh well, it had a good run.

They really haven't done anything that is really any good anymore. I like how they are adding more to the training card games, but I tink it would be better if they had different ideas.

Yu-Gi-Oh the anime/cartoon television show is going down hill. They keep making these remakes dragging out the series longer than what it needs and should be and quite frankly the remakes are constantly losing viewers and its time block is getting earlier and earlier. Now as for the card game, it's only going up in demand for the cards because of collectors.

I was never really a big fan of Yu-Gi-Oh, but I'm still sad to see this happening. I was into the trading cards a little while back (and still have about a hundred) and I just started playing some Yu-Gi-Oh games in the retro game room. Though I haven't really seen too much of it, I think it was a decent franchise.
