Sometimes your looking online when all of the sudden you find these really weird pirated games. This is an example. Since this is still Sonic Month naturally I'd be reviewing a pirated Sonic game. But this game is special. It combines Sonic, and Mario of all things. Now, something like this has been done before. It was called Somari and it was for the NES. It put a Mario character into a Sonic game. This basically does the opposite and puts a Sonic character in a Mario game. But either way they should have kept it how it should. This game is called Sonic Jam VI for the Sega Genesis.
Before I talk about the actual game play, I just have to mention this games horrible music. First, listen to the NES music. Pretty cool music. Pretty calming. Now listen to the SNES Super Mario All-Stars version. It is the symbol of a fun time. Now listen to Sonic Jam VI's remix of the music. It tries to work in cooperatively with the lacking sound chip of the Genesis, but in the end, it's just terrible.
Now to the game play. No. Just, no. Think about it. This is the entire first Mario game with Sonic. Which means you're going way to fast and have barely any time to the enemies and obstacles. Yes, I know, they slowed him down a lot but he's still going relatively fast. Not to mention the Goombas have gotten a big boost in speed. This, of course, also makes the game really hard.
The game actually doesn't look half bad. It's colorful and very vibrant. I just think it's weird how Sonic is red when he doesn't have a mushroom.
Overall, this game isn't that good. I give it a 4.7 out of 10.
