Mine doesn't shut itself down. However on a few occasions I get a notification that it says it has to restart T minus 10 minutes to finish updates it downloaded. Other than that, none at all.

My computer has only ever decided it was time to call it quits and shut itself down once and that was over a year ago. I think it was due to over heating though.

Well, my computer would never shut down by itself. Sometimes it would go to sleep mode after a while though but it's normal.

Just wanted to tell you guys that all of this is adjustable through control panel. I'm on my old windows xp laptop and I can adjust these settings and I probably can do the same on my new windows 8 laptop.

Here is some brief steps for windows xp: (Windows vista and 7 could also be similar so it might work for them too)

1. Click on the start button, click on control panel.

2. In the left of the window that comes up, click on switch to classic view.

3. Double click on power options.

No my computer does not shut down all by its self and if it shuts down all by itself then your computers probably broke. My sisters laptop shuts its self down at random though because her and my mom got into a argument and my mom took the laptop and slammed it on the floor so now it freezes every now and again and shuts of at random times for no apparent reason.
