Squirtle,in my opinion.It can evolve into Blastoise.Thus, resulting in learning Hydro Pump(Step aside Charizard) and Blizzard(Which gets rid of all the other grass types.

Charmander is the best. He is super strong. He is so powerful that he can win at a water gym with only fire attacks (I know because I did it on LeafGreen). He also evoves into the almighty Charizard, Who can fly and is way stronger than many othe pokemon, including Typhlosion. Of course I don't need to argue this because Charmander is winning, so my story of charmander being better is supported so, HAHA.

my 3 favoret pokemon games are pokemon yellow, crystal, and soulsilver. and the best starter to get incrystal and soulsilver is cydiquil. and cydiquil looks the best following u around in soulsilver anyway. fire and water are allways the best starters u canget exept for in d/p/pt beacuse piplup is part bird and learns stuff like peack wich destroyes you rivals turtwig. so if in a pokemon game you could get any starter i would get cydiquil.
