Pokémon of the Past is, to be frank, a not-so-good hack of Link's Awakening. While it's not too bad... it could had been a lot worse.

My main complaints of the game are as follows: first, some of the sprites could had been done a lot better, as it's mainly Link and his items which are replaced sprite-wise. Second, the text is badly done - with words cut up and the combination of old and new text making it hard to read some of the story. Third, while I understand why the hacker possibly renamed the dungeons as gyms, I don't think it works as well as they intended. And fourth... why use Poké Balls in place of hearts?

Sound-wise... I had hoped to hear some more Pokémon-related themes in this hack, rather than the standard Zelda music. But at least the beeping is not as annoying in this game compared to other games.

As for the story, while it follows the same logic as Link's Awakening, the equivalent of the Wind Fish in this game, Serebi... That's somewhat of a turn-off for me.

Finally, while the hack is somewhat long, it's not one which I would recommend to anyone to try out. You'll be better off playing Link's Awakening DX than this hack.

ah2190 : I think this a rather decent review to start out with. As it has good grammar a good amount of depth and detail. And 1 thing I would had said I don't think this game can be any better. I mean pokemon is a battle rpg adventure like game. as for zelda its just stragiht up adventure and slash. so of course the idea is gonna be bad.. Anyways good work on the review. if you get more depth and detail that would make it better. keep up the good work
