I cannot, for the life of me, seem to get epsxe to recognize my external CD-Rom Drive (the only CD-Rom drive that still works).

I have tried about 7 different plugins.

Any suggestions?

P.S. I have a Memorex 52x-32x-52x (unsure of the exact model number).

Well I would suggest using an image myself just because it will run faster due to virtual disks having less load time.
I'm assuming by mentioning plugins you have tried changing the option in ePSXe to read external drives?

It just plain doesn't recognize that my drive exists, let alone gives an option for it...

My drive's model number is:
3252AJ1v2

Providing your computer recognises your external cd drive, there is a way around this. As DH mentioned, you can use images instead of running directly off the disc (which provides much better gameplay).

Some free iso creating programs:

Alcohol 52% Free Edition
http://www.free-downloads.net/programs/Alcohol_52__Free_Edition

Lucersofts LC ISO Creator (only 14kb)
http://www.lucersoft.com/freeware.php

Simply use one of these programs (or one you already own) to rip the psx game onto your hd as ISO (or BIN/CUE) format.

Once its on your HD you can use EPSXE to run it.

Have you tried going to the Config menu in ePSXe, clicking Cdrom and clicking the Configure button and poking around in those options?

I ended up just finding a plugin which works with a mounted virtual drive...I wanted to save some HD space and burn 'em to discs (also, it would kind of give a realistic feel to just swap discs).

None of the plugins recognized that I even had an external drive (yet they all recognized all three of my virtual drives...hmm).

I tried playing with every setting imaginable.

Oh well, playing from bin cue isn't too bad (bushido blade 2 is awesome).

Somewhat funny as well, is that I just ripped one of my PS1 games with that same drive...well it is somewhat ironic.
