What megaman game did you find the most challenging? If I missed any mega man games out, please let me know. I'm sure there were a few more games from the "X" series plus a few more.

The last level from Megaman 1 had so many platforms and spike traps....it is almost unbearable.

The most challenging from the X series?? I would say X4 was tuff but I only say that due to the transition from S.N.E.S. to Playstation was a little weird. The controlers are only slightly different. I think the biggest issue I had was the size of the Playstation controler was a little smaller. And the "D-Pad" was a collection of triangle slivers instead of the standard Cross. It took a month or two to get used to that with a MegaMan Game. Never crossed my mind when playing Final Fantasy 7 or any of the other Hits on Playstation. I strongly think that MegaMan was ment to be played with a classic cross mold D-pad after that. That's just me though.

Good Luck To All.
I'm done. Stick a fork in me.
Peace.

I would say that the games I found the most challenging have to be one of the first 3 from the original series. If you pulled my arm to choose I would probably say 2. Playing that game without save states is brutal, try it some time ;-)

Of the choices I have played all of the main series and  X-X3.

It was a tough choice between 1 and 9. 1 has the Yellow Devil and the brutal design of how you replay the bosses. It also has a really tough Wily fight at the end with no E-Tanks. Truly a hard game.

9's level design from the very start is much harder. It has harder challenges as a platformer in its 8 normal boss stages than 1 does throughout the whole game. 1 almost has the edge in terms of boss difficulty, but 9 had to throw on the ol' throw back jersey and bring a NEW form of 1's Yellow Devil.(but he is green) I know this guys pattern... I can make all the jumps... it's just hard. I always have to use at least one E-Tank and I've no hit the Yellow Devil from 1. It's just a hard boss fight.

Of course I'm an old nerd so I've been playing Megaman since it came out. Maybe that's why 9 is harder to me... because I've played it less. Don't know it by heart... I dunno.

Anyways 2,3,4,5,(especially 5, it's probably the easiest)6, X, X2 I definitely "No-continue" run all the time. X and X2 being the only games I can beat without dying.

Jordanv78 : Ah, well I have tried it. In fact I've played through 1-5 without using save states. I found Mega Man 2 a little easy, but I can see where you're coming from.

Dragoon26 : I know exactly how you feel. Mega Man 9 has that new age difficulty where the developers could look back and just can make it harder with aged knowledge of what they have done before. It's especially hard when you're going for the "No coffee breaks" achievement. I failed for three hours straight at the Wily boss on that one.

However, I felt that Mega Man one had that "tough love" feel. Mega Man 9 had energy tanks, which could level the field IF you needed a little boost. You could easily make it harder by not taking them. You could also save and come back to it later (save for the wily castle, which thankfully makes you power through it in one sitting). The first one however gave you no energy tanks, making it harder. To cap it all off, some bosses made it impossible for you to dodge their attacks, like that giant bubble enemy in Wily Castle Stage 3, and of course Fire Man before you fight wily himself (seriously how do you dodge his attacks?), meaning you'll always have at least a little health lost when you fight the final boss.

Which I find pretty neat: it makes you feel that you're on your last legs, making the situation more intense to finis Wily off. Of course there is a checkpoint right before facing Wily, which levels it some more.

Also, I got the impression 4 was the easiest, but that's just me.

Megaman & Bass (Rockman & Forte) seems to be the most difficult one to me which is kinda odd. I've pretty much lost my Megaman strategy because I haven't played any of the games for a while.

Jordanv78 :
I have no Idea what you are talking about.
MegaMan 2 was the second game I mastered. Matter of fact you can practically go through the whole thing with your standard buster. (A few boss fight exceptions. Not many.)
MegaMan 2 has one of my favourite glitches of all time.
This one allows you to dodge bullets.
This one will help boost the ego a few notches.
It only works on standard bullets or enemy buster shots. Just memorize the sound and repeatedly hit the start button. (Pause and Unpause. In rapid succession.)
Do this right and pay attention to the screen.
The images should only be a brief second of the things happening. While Megaman looks like a blob stuck in a "Star Trek", beaming gone wrong accident.
What you want to look for are the bullets passing through the MegaMan blob and not damaging Megaman. Comes in handy for many odd spots.
The part that this is most helpful is "The Wall Cannon Boss" at the "Willy stage 3" or something.
When those Wall Cannons Start Blinking. You start Mashing the Start Button.
Even if you loose one life and go through the stage again? The Cannons you Busted stay gone the second time around. (So use that Save state wisely if you are a young one. This game was ment for a generation of gamers with thicker skin.)
I recommend only saving with all the weapons gauges full and then save after you have only Two or Three Wall Cannons left. (A good note of strategy for the beginners is First Run... Nail all the walls that need to be busted. Second Run? Nail all of the Wall Cannons.

Good Luck To All.

orionfoxgibson : I understand what you are saying. To each their own. I honestly have found none of the extremely hard until maybe when you get to the Wiley stages. Each has their own "Glitches" that allow you to pass levels. For example the pause trick for Bosses in MegaMan 1.

I know that you think you are enlightening me, but trust me I have been gaming at least as long as you have ;-)

Mega Man 1 was the hardest for me. I actually don't think I ever beat that game. I beat all of the other mega mans and I think all of the X's. That game was just way too tough.

I think that Megaman Zero 2 is the hardest. I can't evan get past the first level on that game. So instead I play Megaman Zero 4. I really like that game much better than number 2. It fills me up with fun so I don't worry about Megaman games much because, I can always go to that one.

I said megaman zero 2 was the hardest megaman game because the main bosses weakness were a bit of a challenge to figure out, and they were the hardest A.I.'s I've ever had to beat.

Megaman 9 had to be the hardest for me, it was like very hard for me to even get pass hornet man's stage with the horrible spike jumping, I also hated splash woman's stage and I cant even describe galaxy man's stage, that game in general just made me wanna throw my controller across the room

The thing about Megaman Zero 2 is that instaid of giving you easier bosses earlier on and then challenging you once you know what you are doing, they butcher you early on, with no weapon upgrades, no elements, no EXP skills, no Cyber Elfs, no Sub Tanks, no alternate Formes, NOTHING! They really have no mercy in this game, unlike in Megaman Zero 3.  I've only completed 2 in the easy scenario mode of Megaman Zero Collection on the DS, FORGET Normal Mode!
