My latest injury consists of my arm catching on fire.

Im a boilermaker which is basically welding and fabricating steel, this happed when I was welding some thick steel 2 stories up on a job site. Weld pools are 6000+ degrees celcious so any spatter that is shot out of the weld pool will instantly ignite grass or in this case cotton. My long sleeve caught on fire and gave me some nice burns on my arm. But because im standing very close to such a hot surface I didnt realise I was on fire until my workmate yelled out.

Thats my dumb injury.

i accidently lit my arm on fire filling up a zipo lighter ill tell you the story.

Once apon a time, i was sitting on my bed and i got the urge to be a pyro for a little while, so i grabbed my zippo, a can of ax, and tryed to light my zippo seconds later after striking the lighter and seeing it wouldnt light i grabbed my lighter fluid, and began filling i saw that i was filling it up to much so i stoped, and then i put the zipo back the way it was when i grabbed it, and i stupidly shoock the zippo flinging lighter fluid all over my arm, but this hadnt crossed my mind when i began to strike the lighter to get rid of the exces lighter fluid, so then i struck the zippo to get rid of the excess fluid, and before i knew it my arm was on fire and i was running down my stairs to try and put out the flame with water from my bathroom.

THE END

My latest dumb injury happened yesterday afternoon when I was slicing the chicken, I accidentally wounded my own finger and now it has bandage and I'm having a hard time typing.

I stubbed my baby toe (the one on the outside) and broke it.... I dropped to the ground because I was in so much pain... I felt really stupid.

I was actually holding my baby at the time and managed to not drop her while falling but gently placed her on the ground besdie me while I rolled around on the floor in pain.

yeah... I felt really dumb...

I couldn't walk properly for about 2 weeks after that because any pressure on that toe was pretty painful. It's been about a month since then and I rarely feel pain anymore but the occasional time I put too much pressure on that toe I still feel it.

nice!

I was playing volleyball once and I got hit in the head by a serve and I stumbled backwards about 15 feet or so and fell into a wall.... I was trying to regain my balance the whole time and couldn't so I ended up going back first into the wall. If I had just fallen down originally I probably would have just slid to the ground... instead I went back first into the wall and got the wind knocked out of me.

Since this thread has started turning into injury story-time, I have a few.

First, most recent, and speaking of burns, I was making up some bacon in the oven a few days ago, went to flip it (with my bare hands because I'm like that), and touched the metacarpal of my thumb to a 400-degree Farenheight coil. It blistered in about ten seconds, and now it's this big nasty wound running up to the base knuckle.

My second is related to finger-slicing. I was cutting up half-frozen hot dogs the night that I joined this forum with a serrated steak knife (Cutco, too, dammit those things are sharp), and because I'm such a genius, I was too lazy to use a plate as a cutting board and was actually cutting them in my hands. Now, I was being careful about it, otherwise I wouldn't have done it in the first place (still really stupid, I know), but like an idiot I cut the very last one differently by flipping it halfway through. Well, the knife went flying through after the halfway point on the other side and sliced cleanly into the end of my index finger. It's already healed over, but the scarring where the wound cleanly split is pretty obvious.

Third, and this one's a couple months under a year old, pertains to toe-injury. While out at the family summer home at Rocky Nook in August, I think, or maybe the end of July, I went out walking into the mud flats during the low tide. I had been warned to be careful out there, because there were all kinds of shellfish under the muddy silt, so I did, or at least I thought I did. I walked with my toes splayed and stepped lightly; as I reached about calve depth, I hit something that really hurt, paused, but kept going until I saw a horseshoe crab half-buried in the mud.

...If not for that crab, I might have more than a funny deformity in my pinky-toe from scarring. ._. The pain I felt was a razor clam slicing through the pad of my toe. I'd pulled the crab out and brought it back to the house (we're right on the water) to show a friend that was sitting on the porch, and noticed blood in the grass. Funny enough, my first instinct was to check and see if I'd hurt the horseshoe crab, but I was soon enough putting it down, swearing, limp-running around to clean the silty mud off my feet, and freaking out because the pad of my toe was barely still attached. I ended up spending five hours in the emergency room that day to have it glued shut, and then the following two to three weeks trying to keep weight off of it.

You really don't realize how much you use those toes while walking until you really screw one up.

EDIT: Blasted typo. =_=

This isn't a recent dumb injury but it was definately the last one that i've had, there is two parts to this story.

3 years ago i war ironing my mum's work shirt. I went to turn the shirt to iron the pockets properly and i didn't realise the i was leaning on the hot iron with my left forarm. I was still fixing the shirt so it was straight when my mum finally said "You've been leaning on that iron for 1 minute, doesn't it hurt?". Obviously once she drew my attention to it, it hurt a lot.

A few hours later at school during our english class the teacher was handing out some hard cover books for us to look at. When the teacher reached me she happened to accidentally drop the book on my left arm, thus ripping off what little scab had formed over the burn.
