Razor-987 : There are some interesting super minor details to be had by watching Z instead of Kai, and also some characterization differences. But yes, Kai stops after the Cell Saga, but obviously Dragonball Z continues through all of the Buu and Fusion and Kid Buu Sagas. Apparently, I read somewhere, they decided to stop Kai after the Cell Games because the creator initially intended for that to be the case, but kept going anyway.

In the beginning Goku, Krillin and Gohan always seemed to loose and get beat up. Goku is always beat up and in bad condition, and also how many times do you see other characters like Vegeta hanging on for life? On dragonball z kai, he was only in a severe condition on Namek, and on Earth when it was like a 4 on 1 battle, and him turning into a great ape should have killed Goku. Before super saiyan, goku would always take advantage of his opponent and nearly loose his life, like when he let Frieza on Namek power up to 100% when King Kai told him to defeat him while he was charging up and not to let him achieve 100% power. So good point made there bluemagekyle.

Nope I started with Dragon Ball Z and then watched GT. I was debating on whether or not I should watch the first series or not but compared to Dragon Ball Z it would have probably been a bit to slow paced for me. Besides I heard Dragon Ball was a bit perverted.
