I like Mario better because there are too many Mario games out there for me to count and I've been playing Mario games since I was about 9 years old. Also, they're usually pretty fair on difficulty and there aren't many Mario games that are so hard that make me feel like throwing the computer out of the window. (only a couple of them gave me that feeling)

Mario is a  platforming game about a Italian Plumber and occasionally a green-hatted partner named Luigi who go and rescue the Princess Peach from a Turtle named Bowser.
Whereas, the Mother franchise, is a Japanese RPG series. It's hard to compare a RPG to a Platformer. This game (From what I know about) is about PSI users and the kind of things you'd see in a RPG: Turn-based battles.

Ok, while I think this isnt even a fair poll, I would have to say mario. the mother series is amazingly good, but the mario series has so much more diversity, in the means that I like some genres of the mario series, but I dont like others. again, I think this isnt fair, but mario is definitely the best of the two.
