No he is extremely famous he is more famous then Pokémon so how and I do think it is kinda annoying how most old Mario games being remade are boring and simple but no he isn't overrated. :]

I don't think Mario is overrated at all. He's a icon in video gaming, and even possibly the savior in gaming after the Video game crash in the 70s. He has the right to be promoted this much.

He's not really overrated...as there is nothing actually bad about the series besides the repetitive plot of the main games. The games are good, have tight control, fine level design, good music and never really cause much anger.

Games today are simple.  Every single military simulator, like Call of Duty are the same after a while.  Hide behind stuff and shoot.  That's simple.  Sports games are always the same idea.  Fighting games and RPGs are all button mashers.  Talk about simple.  They're all the same thing over and over and over and over.

I haven't played a new Mario game since Mario Kart came out for SNES.  I'm sure the new ones are simple but the originals are the first of their kind.  That's what makes them special.  The rest of the games nowadays are all over-rated.

Not at all. If anything, it's underrated. I think the new ones are a little overrated. The new Mario games are fun, but nothing really gets me going that much. I think the current formula is getting a little overused and it should have some deeper elements added to it. A radical change pushed in the right direction could really help the series out a lot.

I really like Mario. The reason is because it's familiar. So while the games may not be that good it's something that has stayed constant over the years. That's why it's so popular, it brings back memories of addicted childhoods where hours upon hours were spent on Mario. That's not to say people don't get addicted now, because they do.

Yes I do think it's overrated.. I love the Mario games but every single one of them are really easy for me... I have only encountered that gave me a little bit of challenge. I wish they would come out with one that was very challenging.

It's a basic storyline: Your in the mushroom kingdom, the princess is kidnapped and you have to go save her from the clutches of a giant turtle. The only difference is different graphics and different enimies.. but the story mostly stays the same throughout. It really depends on your opinion if it's overrated or not.

Mario isn't really overrated. There is good reason why many talk about, and that is that it is Nintendo's "main" game, and the fact is the game is fun...I also don't think the games focus on story lines but on beating the game as soon as possible. Maybe that's why you can finish them in a day.

I find all of the Mario games difficult, but perhaps that is because I not that great of a gamer. I'm better at games like Zelda...(and I like them more...)

I think Mario is a great series. It is #2 for me I give the greatest series to Mega Man. Other game sites give Mario #1 and Mega Man #2 in top gaming series. I think the new modern Mario games are overrated. They just seem too easy. I like Mario but the Mario series in its first 10 years really challenged players.
