I think a lot of the newer pokemon are just getting weirder and weirder. The original are the best, and some of the second generation are really cool too. I'd say the first two are the best, and they're close

1st generation because it had pokemon yellow. My favorite pokemon game is Pokemon Yellow, because you can get all the starters in it and i think that is cool. Plus Pikachu follows you and thats the only game a pokemin follows you in it.

Johto (Gen 2) all the way.
Johto was easily my favourite because you had the chance to go back to my second favourite (Gen 1).
Also I think they have gone too far with Diamond/Pearl/Platinum.
With those games pokemon isn't just a fun little game with bad graphics that brings back memories. It's just too advanced.

I think that the fourth generation games are the best. The Physical/Special split allows many Pokemon to use STAB moves that they previously weren't able to use(such as Sneasel not being able to use its dark or ice STAB because they were both special and Sneasel has terrible special attack), thus allowing many Pokemon to reach a full potential. They also have better story lines than the previous games, which, although not being that great, they're at least a refreshing change from the way the story lines worked in the past.

As far as the show goes, I'd have to say Gen. 1 was the best. The show was a bit more original in the first season and I enjoy that. After the first season I go tired of the same old shtick. O RLY TEAM ROCKET'S BLASTING OFF AGAIN?!?!?

In the games, nothing beats gold and silver. Not only did the game have major improvements from the first, but you could revisit all of the old gyms and beat them too! How cool was that?!
