I could go into detail, but I'm not. Obviously Link. He has a sword and could use his red tunic to kinda absorb Mario's flame attacks  and blue tunic for his ice attacks. Plus Link has a variety of weapons. Mario just has power ups that don't last long. And Link is more skilled in fighting Mario just jumps on people.

 Ahhh... it's kinda hard to choose between the two for me, Mario can shoot fireballs and smash blocks without receiving any pain (somehow).
Link on the other hand has a sword, and holds alot of items.. his back must hurt for a guy holding so many items.
They Both save princesses, and go on long journeys fighting everything in their way to save that one girl.
I think it's a tie for me, I like them both!

Link would probably win on a regular fight, but on power ups, Link would still win, because of more styles of gameplay, with masks, time travel, and more, and more time travel. But if Mario got a star power, it would all be over. But overall LINK WINS the fight.

Mario has little to no weapons and can die within three hits.
Link has many weapons in his arsenal and is able to use them effectively in battle.
Honestly a pipe roamer wouldn't beat Link.

Most definitely, Link would win the battle. Link has a Sword, a Shield and a whole lot of other "things"  in his possession. The most mario could do is a Jump or just, I don't know, light up from a star?
