warmaker :  Wish ya'd pass some of that on to me.  Your fitness, I mean.

I feel pathetic about what I accomplished today.  (Well, technically, yesterday)

I got 34 chair dips and 2 push ups in.  Seriously.  I was so sore from the 6.5 hour walk that I did nada but sit here at my chair for most of the day.

I must do better....

Resuri :  We haven't heard from you.    Put that junk food down!  Do five jumping jacks, right now!

Singelli : I know you didn't ask for suggestions, you asked for accountability.  Saying that, I'm about to break the rule.

If you really went to a 6.5 hour walk, that's way too much.  No wonder you're sore.  That's going to break up what you're trying to do.  On the flip side, only doing a few of an exercise is better than nothing but it's not the most helpful.

Break things up.  Dedicate one hour, which is 1/24 of your entire day, to doing fitness things.  Walk for half an hour and stretch for half an hour.  It means you're not sitting and watching tv, you're not eating food, you're actively engaging in exercise.  You have to put aside a block of time to do this to have an impact.  It's not like working out super hard for five days will fix everything.

Make this a part of your daily routine the rest of your life.  It's fun, it's enjoyable, and it makes you sleep better, feel better, feel confident, and be healthier.  I never think of exercise as a punishment for what I ate last night.  I'm rewarding myself with endorphines and strength.

Saying that, I have Xmas Eve and day at my wife's family's house and my parents.  My wife and I banged out a run this morning.

Run: Outside, 33, clear, no wind.
DIstance: 4.5 miles
Time: 40 minutes
Stretching: 20 minutes
Shower: HOT!

Oh, I know it was too much. I wasn't doing the walking as part of my routine, but because I need to kill my emotions and depression over certain things.  I just wanted to get away, and I did so.  It wasn't wise on my part, but I didn't know how else to cope at that moment.

Am I reaping the consequences?  Oh yeah.  I still feel a little sore today.  Wasn't brave enough to try the treadmill, but I have done some of my lunges.

I can't believe your wife is in shape enough to keep up with ya!  LOL  I wish my spouse could participate with me, but I've settled with the idea that it won't happen any time soon.  Heh.

Congrats on the nice jog and great exercise.

Like "War-Maker" stated. It has to be a part of your life.
Every time I use a Micro-wave I do push-ups or sit-up's. I don't really count them until I do a weekly test. The thing is I have a few minutes of waiting and I just do something about it. Quite allot of people keep getting distracted from their goals concerning fitness very often by silly inventions.
Take for example the T.V.
Back in the 1990's I stopped watching T.V. shows I didn't Record.(Saves allot of time.Just fast forward through the commercials.) I set the V.C.R. up to record My shows and Did All the things I set out to do in a week and only watched the Recordings on the Weekends. For the news I recorded it Daily and watched it at the end of my shift at work.
Results???
I had so much time free, I picked up a few hobbies. (Like Guitar, Creative Writing, and Cooking.)
Nine Times out of ten I found that people who don't learn to manage time to work for them are helpless to figure out a way to stay or get in shape.
The Accountability Question/Answer???
Today I heated up Turkey leftovers with Dressing and Celery mixed with Green Beans.
Time on Micro-wave was two minutes.
Push-up's Completed?
Around 58 I think. (Like I said I don't Count Them.)
Tonight I plan on doing 50 or more Arm Curls (These I do count without some funny ritual like my Micro-wave trick.) coupled with some Incline Skull Crushers sometime before sleeping.
It's Simple and I don't waste any of my day for a schedule.
Similar to what others have said, I don't really think of it like a chore that I can put off.
I Think of it like changing a baby's diaper. It's just something that's going to have to be done. One way or another soon.
That's it. I'm Done. Stick a fork in me.
Good Luck To All.
Peace.

 Congrats everyone! ^-^
Today, I started keeping track of my food and exercise and so far I've had about 600 calories and I have almost finished my list!
Today 's plans were:
Monday: P90X cardio video(45 min), P90X abs video(20 min), Walking(1 hour), Just Dance(15 min)
Unfortunately, I've been having really bad migraines and guests will be over soon so I wont be able to do the P90X cardio. >~<
I hope everyone is feeling better, specially singelli. I hope things are going better for you.

Today wasn't such a great day for me.  I spent most of it in bed, only just now getting up around 11:30pm.  However, I have managed to get in 100 lunges and 13 chair dips. I still couldn't do the treadmill, but I have no excuse for the lack of exercise.  I don't know that I'll be able to do any on Christmas.  My husband got called to do another shift, meaning he's working 16 hours straight, so I'm going to go sit in the lobby with him until he gets off. However, he'll go straight to sleep since he has to work exactly 7 hours later, and I'll head over to my parent's.

Some Christmas...

*sighs*

The 26th, maybe?

Resuri :  GREAT job!  I'm very proud of you, you know.  I was wondering if I'd get to hear if you started or not, and then I hear that you blew me out of the water!  I'm so ashamed!  Keep up the good work!

mrfe :
Eirinn :
Haven't heard from you fellas.  How's it going?  (I know we might not hear from you Eirinn since you won't be online all that much.

Thanks for the updates orionfoxgibson, warmaker, and thing1.  You guys are in great shape.  O.o  I love the advice and the encouragement.  Sorry that I've done so poorly myself.

Today's weight: 162.4 pounds.
Exercise: 100 lungs and 13 chair dips.

Aw, I hope you have a better time than what it sounds like! & I am just going to assume your husband is a doctor... .-.

I have something to ask... Today I started exercising and now I feel like an insomniac, I've only slept just a bit more than an hour, I spent another hour on my bed trying to get back to sleep and it failed. I feel as if I am running off coffee.. my body is tired and in pain but my head wont stop thinking and its just going... The thing is that this happens to me when I exercise & I thought exercise was suppose to reduce insomnia not cause it. >~<
... does this happen to anyone else?

LOL, he's not a doctor, but I'm sure he wishes he was. No, his co-workers just didn't want to work on Christmas and so left it up to him, calling in 'sick' a few hours before they were supposed to come in. -.-

My husband just teased: "Tell her that your husband, the doctor, recommends more sleep." hehe.

Exercise makes me more energetic, but it doesn't keep me from sleeping. In fact, good exercise SHOULD help you rest better and more peacefully.

Merry Christmas, and I hope you get some sleep. Maybe if you get up and shake a leg before trying to go back to bed, you'll wear yourself out? I'm not sure.

Singelli : I was gone from 8:15 am until about 8pm... Then it was family time until bed. So yeah, I only did 30ish mins of walking and the curls. Hope to do better today. Have a merry Christmas, despite the excellent oppurtunity for a nap in the lobby.

My wife is in better shape than I am when it comes to running.  I've run  two marathons with her but it's really her thing.  She likes the long distances.  She qualified at the Kona Marathon for Boston and ran 26.2 miles in 3:38:25, or thereabouts.

It took three and a half hours to run that race.  I helped with the support because I prefer that to running for three hours.  She did a wonderful job and she's a monster when it comes to endurance sports.  I prefer ball sports like soccer, football, baseball, and other athletics.  She prefers to swim five miles or run twenty or bike fifty.

We challenge each other and keep up with each other.  It's how our relationship works.  We make this a part of our daily routine and it's in the forefront of our cultural existance.  We expect to pass on fitness to our kids when my wife pops them out.  Why sit and watch other people do fun things on tv when you can get outside and go do them yourself?

Ahh... gut problem. Well, what I do is usually is run in a field or track with 25 lbs ankle weights for about 30 min. or 20 laps around the track (4 laps = 1 mile) keeps me in shape, helps endurance, speed, agility, better at soccer etc. Recently though, around fall, an accident happen and got a broken leg.. so an alternate thing to do is a 5 system push-up. Put 25 lb plate on your back and do regular, wide, one hand left, one hand right, and what-you-call'em... clapping pushups(?). Hope this helps........

How much you eat in a month?
Like what's the Monthly Bill for food?
That's allot of running for the average "Law abiding Citizen."
Today I'm slacking off till 6:00 P.M.
Just arm stuff before bead time. I'm going to watch You-tube music Videos and do Bench-Dips, Arm-Curls, Incline Skull Crushers, 50 reps of each bare minimum.
I might do Push-Ups while I'm doing Bench-Dips (Alternating when I get tired of one exercise but still pushing to keep up with my overall endurance).
Ultimately though I like the effects of Music while I still have it to use. According to an article, if you like the music and it helps you push it might be the special kind of music that interrupts the brains ability to process pain properly. In a manner you don't feel all the pain till the music stops. Pretty cool no?
Lately I've bee watching music videos of Star Wars, Devil May Cry, Street Fighter, Dragon Ball, Metal Gear, Final Fantasy, and "Team Ninja Developed" video games with Modern Music while I work out. (Last track was Dragon Ball Z and Papa Roach.)
If I just want Radio and my own thoughts I dial it to "X-103.9" (Southern Cali. station).
How about the rest of you.?
For the food fans.. I ate Ham and Veggie dinners yesterday, and today I'm back with the Turkey or Red-Meat meals (last meal was turkey, stuffing, and celery.).
I'm done. Stick a fork in me.
Good Luck To All.
Peace.

Peace.

Today was a quiet day.  I ran and showered and went back to work.

Run: Treadmill
Time: 30:00
Distance: 3.5 miles
Calories: 432

It was a quick semi-sprint.  I played a few songs, cruised along and finished up.

Pull-ups: 30.

My goal is 20 pull-ups in a row.  I hit 14 today for the first time in a while and I'll get getting back into the pool with a new swimsuit so my back and arms will get a little more attention.  I still have an 8 mile run coming up this week and January is when I go to 22 miles a week for my average.  The holiday wasn't bad for eating.  I barely had extra food.  The drinking wasn't as good and I got beer for Xmas so I needed to not be rude.

Pool tomorrow!  I'm excited.

Just dropping in to let you know I haven't forgotten about this. I got sick on Christmas eve (Yay) and I'm still just stuck in bed. I'll get at it when I'm able.

I hope everyone is doing well with their training and such.

Well, after three very chaotic days in which my husband's work schedule was probably changed 20 times, I was running around TRYING to arrange a Christmas surprise, and my husband took me out of state for his own Christmas surprise....

Well needless to say I've hardly done anything.
I did my best yesterday though, considering about ten hours was spent in the car.  I did about 4 hours of walking at our destination, and I pumped some 5 pound weights I bought for most of the time I was sitting in the car.  I also bought a pedometer so that I could better keep track of how many calories I'm burning in the future when I go for walks.  I'm sitting in a dark hotel right now, but we should be home in six hours, so I plan on starting back up once I get home.

I HAVE been trying to eat healthier.   I avoided any sugar and insisted on stopping at Chik-fil-A instead of something like Burger King or Taco Bell.  LOL  Except for one energy drink, I had all water and unsweet tea.

orionfoxgibson :
That's quite interesting.  I know my music helps me push and endure any longer, but I've never noticed if it really puts off any pain.  Have you tried it out to see if it actually works?  O.o

warmaker :
.... :O  3.5 miles in 30 minutes?  Oy!  I'll never be able to do that!!!    ....  That's amazing.... LOL  I wonder how long it will take me to work myself into that kind of fitness.

Eirinn :
That sucks.  I hope you feel better soon!  We miss you!

The rest of you... I'm only going to refrain from summoning you since it's been Christmas and all....

Everything I mention I have tried and done for years. Seven strait.
My warehouse job. I have to dead lift about 20,000 pounds every night. That's about 80-90% of a full Truck Payload of product.
Every person I work with has to do the same thing.
So I know a little about pain and enduring.
Thankfully I don't have to lift the 20,000 pounds in one try. I have a full 8 hours, and I do it in chunks.
There are several books you can read on the subject as I have about the Music thing. It works. You just don't notice it till someone walks in in the middle of your day or work out and turns the music off. It's like Kyptonite to Super-Man. Instant stop. I have had many a jerk supervisor do this to co-workers. And it's painful to endure through or watch it even.

I am kind of interested in learning how you had any energy after 10 hour car ride. Normally I look for the nearest place to streach and I'm fairly done unless I hear odd noises or signs of distress.
Then again, If I had a "gift trip" like you did I guess I would be able to muster something.
I'm almost out the door.
I had turkey for breakfast with broccoli and cheese (God cheese is so good. Why does it have to be perishable.?).
I intend to do some running sometime this week. (Mostly to clear my head and other organs.)
good luck to all.
Im done. Stick a fork in me.
Peace.

orionfoxgibson : I eat quite a lot really. Breakfast I eat cereal with a banana. Lunch is mostly junkie fast food or a sub. Dinner is usually subway with Snapple. Food bill is usually 200-300 dollars. I run or actually ran more cause I`m a soccer player currently injured

If people train for it and work for it, 3.5 miles in 30 minutes isn't bad.  It's hard.  It's tough work to get there and it takes time and focus but it's attainable, especially if you're under the age of 50.  After 50, it gets a little more tough.

Yesterday, I got 500 meters done in the pool and I tread water (treaded?) for about 15 minutes on and off.  I don't know what the caloric count looks like and it doesn't matter.  It was a solied 45 minutes of lunch in the pool, which sits at a beautiful 85 degrees and I loved most every second of it.

Today is an 8 mile run followed by pull-ups, perhaps.

warmaker :  Well on average, when I jog and walk for 30 minutes, I make it about 2 miles.  It may not be that bad if I'm more fit, but I can at most maintain a heavy jog/ almost run?... for about 10 minutes. Pretty bad, right?

I wonder if it's feasible for me to even try 8 miles split up throughout the day.  I don't think it would be, and I might try to match you.  Of course, my way to that length wouldn't be as intense as yours.  ^.^

I just got up so I haven't had the time to do anything yet.

After the last three days of hardly any exercise and eating semi-healthy?  161.8 pounds.  Putting that down before I forget to record my exercise later today.
