TheNameWithNoNumbers : having siblings does suck for a while, but if you survive and don't absolutely hate each other by the time you all grow up and move out you might actually miss them. I know it's hard to believe right now but it's true.

I'm the last child of a series of six, and none of my brother's and sisters and I really got along. We played together and could have great times, but our personalities were so different that there was always conflict.

That's the key.

A set of my cousins (6 siblings as well) on the other hand get together every chance that they get (5 of them living in the same town) and have always loved every moment they share with each other. When one was going to get in trouble, the rest would cover hoping to get him/her out of it. They are basically six of the same person.

Siblings can often disagree or feel that they are being treated unfairly, but it's the personalities, not just being siblings, that causes problems. Get past that (even if it means agreeing to disagree and then everyone shutting up) and the negatives can be brought to a minimum.

If only I knew then what I know now!

If I was able to have kids, I'd want 4, myself.  I would never want an only child, so I say you and your wife have the right idea about what makes a good number of kids.  

My husband wants two and I want four, so I joke around and say we'll compromise and have 3 and a half. No one ever seems to think it's funny and they act all confused as I'm looking like an idiot because I'm beaming at my own wit.

*laughs*

I have three siblings, but our age gaps are quite different.  I'm the oldest (by a minute!), and the age between myself and my younger brother is 9 years.  Many of my students though, oddly enough, have siblings older than I am, which puts them at 10+ year age gaps.  I can't imagine being old enough to be your siblings parent (technically speaking).

Having kids so close together can be tough, I imagine.  Though I'll only have kids if God blesses me (due to my blood disorder), I've heard enough stories from my parents.  They've told us time and time again the horrors of having twins as your first set of kids.  Being so new to parenting, it wasn't easy to balance a twice- as- costly baby budget!
