If you think this game is just another platformer like Super Mario Bros.,think again. This game is one epic experience. I should say,this game might just be better than Super Mario Bros.3. Being different is a good thing,and i believe that Super Metroid stands out from the other games because it is insanely different. It is just like a platformer,but it feels like a RPG. You,getting those life and missile expansions while exploring the dungeons and finding power-ups...doesn't this seems a little too much like Zelda?
But it is nothing like that,it is pure action-oriented. However,it is a game where Life is important,and unless you find a way to keep yourself safe,you will die time and time again.
You start off as bounty-hunter Samus,and you go to HQ. However,everyone is dead. You soon find out that they were killed by space pirates AND Ridley,your arch-nemesis. Ridley steals the Metroid,a life form that has many uses and has enough power to create massive weapons of destruction. Samus tries to confront Ridley,but Ridley manages to get away. Samus tracks down Ridley to the isolate planet of Zebes,this is the home planet of the Metroids.
It is a frantic race between you and the Space Pirates. You want to keep world peace by destroying the Metroid,and the Space Pirates want to rule the universe with an iron fist by stealing that same Metroid. However,the Story takes an unexpected twist,and Samus begins to develop a bond with the Metroid. However,someone is not happy with everything that is happening. There is a third-party that wants to see everything destroyed. That includes Samus,the Space Pirates,the Galactic Federation,and the universe. However,even after all that,you're going to play Super Metroid because of it's gameplay,not because of the story.
This game is full of hard bosses,and you will have to backtrack a lot in order to get all the expansions. You start off normal,but then you get a lot of power-ups which will allow you to execute daring manuevers,and they will also increase your defensive capabilities. You will be able to traverse through lava,you will get a grapple beam that you can use to traverse dangereous pits and over spikes,you will be able to turn into a morph ball,and finally,you will get the famous Power Bomb,which devastates everything in sight.
If you like exploration,this is the game for you. There is a map,so you can keep track of where you've been,and where are the most important places. It is a game about concentration,you have to be ready for everything in this game. Playing Super Metroid is just like dating someone;you can't arrive too late or too soon,and you have to promise to be there.
But,surely,this game will keep you coming back.Won't it? |
