I prefer subs because the Japanese voice actors tend to do a much better job at voice acting. To date I have not seen a single anime where the American voice actor does a better job than their Japanese counterparts (although to be fair, I've only watched a few), and I've only seen one anime out of over 100 (FLCL) which had terrible Japanese voice actors.

I always prefer my anime in pure, fluent English. I always want to see what the characters in a anime says (considering the fact that I always prefer dubbed anime, not the original Japanese anime), and trust me, I don't read/know Japanese.

With me its mainly voice cast and how the characters emotions are portrayed throughout the series lately Ive been binging on the subs which I seem to prefer as Ive grown older. Especially since the fact that people are missing out on some great anime`s that don't have dubs besides who doesn't want to see Satan be a fast food worker (the devils a part timer) its a really good series that nobody would know about as there is no dubs. Personally I think the western audience should be exposed more to subs as they can really do really great at being correctly synced with what the characters are saying a trend I find in dubs is that the voice sync is always off and it irritates me.
