So I know that Wendy's might not be and ideal place to work at but tomorrow morning at 10:30 I finally have an interview, and I am nervous XP So I thought it would maybe ease my nerves and make me relax and calm down if I say people on vizzed wish me luck or give me some kind of support. I could really use it, I really need a job. I have to work on making half of the rent where I'm living and that means I have to make about $300 a month. So please if you would drop by and send your support Cross your fingers for me!

Good luck and don't sweat it. Fast food places don't have the highest of standards so it's not like it should be a very hard interview. The key thing is to make yourself appear to be personable. Your answers aren't as important as how you deliver them. They're looking for someone who can talk to others confidently and courteously. Make sure to smile and appear friendly... make good eye contact. They're looking for your customer service skills and are trying to evaluate it from talking to you. Just let it show through your interaction.

XxEzraxX : I wish you the best of luck on your interview. Try not to be nervous and try not to think about what others may think of as ideal employment. The sad reality is in this economy you have to do what you have to do and that’s that. My family and I are in a similar predicament in that we’ve been looking for work for a couple of years with mixed results.

I am a writer and although I work extremely hard at what I do when things are normal I have found it difficult to make a living despite all the time I put in and years of experience. I have been trying to find data processing work that I can telecommute as a way to try and make extra money but it’s been difficult finding legitimate opportunities.

My father lost his job almost two years ago and hasn’t been able to find work since despite his best efforts. It is extremely frustrating but we’ve pulled together and have managed to get through the tough times. Hopefully our time is coming sooner than later. I do have a feeling that there will be more hiring after the election.

Best of luck to you. Go get em.

Okay so the weirdest thing, I still don't understand it. I get to the interview and it turns out there are some things that didn't show up on my application, for instance some questions were answered differently then how I sent it in and it was missing a whole work experience I had so the person who was giving me the interview told me to re do the application and come back to reschedule, so I come home get online to fix the application and it was all completely typed in the work history and my questions where answered the way they were suppose to be. I don't get how that could have happened? But at least she gave me a second chance this time I hope nothing like that happens again But still, has anyone ever had that happen, or could explain how or why that happened?

Wow... I never have seen that before. That's why I'm weary of online apps sometimes. Data can become corrupted when transferred or it was just programmed incorrectly. It's hard to have that kinda thing happen when you're using pen and paper. My recommendation in the future is to print out a copy of the application (if possible) so you can use that as a backup in case something screwy happens.

I wish you luck on getting that job, and overall live without having to do "extreme-budgeting," especially in this economy. Anyways, good luck! I am praying for you to get that job!

Crazy Li : Yeah I prefer the paper applications too, and thank you for the suggestion that is a good idea I will start doing that from now on.

BluemageKyle : Thank you very much, and I will work hard on getting it, if I don't get this one I have a few other applications in at other places so I will definitely not be giving up.

Don't worry sir it happened to me recently at a job interview. For some reason the application that I filled out listed me has having experience in areas that I've never receieved training nor have I actually operated. A couple of tips...

1. Keep track of your expenses. Since you need to pay $300 a month for rent, don't spend a lot on stuff that you don't need until you know how much Gas its going to cost you, car payments (I assume that your drive to work), car insurance, and other expenses. I'm sure that you know that, but I figure I remind you just to be safe.

2. Don't lose your cool under ANY situation. Just act "indifferent" to a customer if they are complaining (by indifferent I mean don't show any emotion that gives off a bad vibe and work on getting the problem resolved.) Also get along well with your co-workers.

Anyways Good Luck at your job at Wendys!!

BluemageKyle : Thanks a lot, and I don't know your job position or anything but if you are hunting too good luck as well!

Oldschool41 : I'm glad I'm not the only one this has happened too, it completely threw me off and thankfully I had someone who was understanding and let me try again, but I do plan on budgeting myself when I start making money and I don't drive yet, I know how too I just don't have a license but that will change as soon as I get a job but that is some really great advice and I will keep it in mind, thank you

XxEzraxX : Ah. Well that is smart to buy a car once you get the job. That way you can factor your rent expenses into what car you can afford. I know that I did the samething when I got my first job (Got a 2012 Kia for a very good amount that I can refinance later once I build up job exp); but my last job cutted me down to about 6.5 hours a week and was only making $40.00 a week (my car costs $274, not including car insurance). So I had to find another job that will pay me enough that I can pay my car payments, car insurance, and gas (luckly got another job that will let me pay that much).

Sorry for the sandwhiching your thread; but I think my little situation is a good example of what to keep in mind later on when you get the job.

Anyways I'll repeat again. Good Luck!!

Pokefreak219 : Thanks a lot, I am crossing my fingers too lol

Oldschool41 : The cool thing is that I pretty much have the car so what I'm going to work on when I get a job is getting the car in my name since it is all paid off and getting the insurance for it the license so I can drive it and a new phone because mine broke and nowadays that is kind of an important thing to have lol And that sucks, I used to work at a UDF where I used to live and my hours on a normal week was like 22 to 24 (which I know that it was part time, but still that is ridiculous) so I would ask for a little more hours it would shoot up the next week to about 30 sometimes almost a full time shift hours and then the next week back down to where I started like I was going to forget or something.

XxEzraxX : That actually sounds like what my dad has had to deal with while he’s been looking for work. He has over 30+ years of solid experience in several fields yet some places have called him for interviews and turned him down several times.

It is frustrating because he has a lot of experience and on a level playing field there is no way that he should have been unemployed for as long as he’s been. I think it is a reflection of the country’s recession and slow economic recovery but it’s still frustrating. The unemployment rate on a national level may be somewhere around eight or nine percent but where we are state wise it’s probably around or over ten percent.

It’s especially frustrating when my dad gets called back by a company that has turned him down before and they ask him to repeat the same process that you are describing. You would think especially in the time we live in with everything being so high tech that they would keep the stuff on file so that you wouldn’t have to repeat the same process. After three or four call backs from a company that has turned you down it’s very frustrating.

As far as me, I would just like to get to a point where I can make a decent living off of my writing but for the time being I would just like to get a steady paycheck from my work even if it isn’t necessarily a decent living.

I pull a lot of all nighters when things are normal and put an awful lot of time and energy into my work. It’s frustrating from the standpoint of putting so much time and effort into something that you love doing yet because of how things are and how the industry is you almost feel guilty if you bring up the concept of being paid. It really is a catch 22 because although I want to be paid I don’t want to risk losing any potential exposure that might come my way. So I basically work for little or no money with the hope that someone who represents a solid company will see my work and more or less write me and say something along the lines of “You’ve suffered enough, come work for us and we’ll pay you a salary.” I can live with working for someone or some company without getting adequate benefits but just to be paid would be something I’d appreciate. If I were being adequately paid I could pretty much go and buy insurance.

I have been writing for most of my life. In that sense it can get a little demoralizing because like I said I put so much time, energy, and effort into my work when things are normal. I hold out hope though that eventually I’ll get the offer of a solid spot that I need to make my life a little better in terms of financially.

Good luck on your next interview. Hopefully next time they won’t give you that kind of response. You deserve better than that.

So now my new interview is Monday at 2:00, which is the latest I have ever had an interview, but hopefully this time everything goes okay. And I really hope that my application doesn't get all messed up this time.

bvd1022 : my dad's job is messing with him too, he usually gets over-time and he was suppose to get a good raise like last week or the week before and when he got the raise it turned out that it was only a 10 cent raise and they took away his over-time which made him make less than usual which really messed up our financial state at the moment, this is part of the reason why I am severely looking for a job. And now he is considering either getting a part time job on the side, or just getting a whole new job entirely because he doesn't want to get screwed over like that again.

XxEzraxX : Good luck in this interview man, I really hope you get it. I know you've been looking for a job for like ever and I know it gets frustrating but I really think you got this one. Just sadly if you get this job we'd never see each other but oh well man, you need this job and I'm sure we'll stay in contact through here or Facebook.
