Following the huge success of Sonic 2 Heroes, this new hack is a must play for all Sonic the Hedgehog fans. This hack is an extended version of Sonic 2 heroes, in that both Sonic 1 and 2 are both combined to form Sonic Classic Heroes. The Classic version of Team Sonic are once again travelling on a long journey to defeat the evil Doctor Eggman in trying to turn animals into robots as part of his plot for world domination. In this game, you can play as Team Sonic, containing Sonic, Tails and Knuckles (Either in a trio, duo or individual or your choice). The recommended number of characters is as a trio, and each character will possess different strengths and can be changed as the leader of the journey (exactly like Sonic Heroes). Amy Rose makes an appearance in the latter stages of Sonic 2, although she is not a playable character. This game is different from Sonic 2 Heroes, as here you must collect both Chaos and Sol Emeralds to transform into Super and/or Hyper Formations respectively, these being hidden in the special stages of both Sonic 1 and 2, which are only accessible if you perform well in a level, collecting 50 rings or higher going through a checkpoint (Sol) or entering a giant ring at the end of a level (Chaos). There are seven of each emerald to collect. Collectible items are from Sonic 3 and Knuckles, and game music is exactly the same as on both Sonic 1 and 2. All in all, Classic Sonic Heroes is a challenging but excellent game to play, has a huge amount of levels to complete and certainly provides a lot of thrills.
