What was your opinions about the battle of Nintendo and Sega in the early 90's?
Not doing a versus, just asking about the Nintendo war in the 90's.

If you were born in the early 80's or late 70's, you may have heard of a battle that had started a major conflict between Nintendo and Sega.

How did you feel and what were your opinions from this battle aka the 16-bit war?


For me, I felt confused when I watched AVGN's Nintendo and Genesis battle, and I felt that this battle really wasn't necessary to begin with. But this battle was when the SNES came out, the Genesis was already out in 1989 or 1988, and they both started a battle that I call, "the 16-bit war".

I always hate to see people debate the respective virtues of the two consoles because like Rolfe they will always compare the technical specs when favoring the SNES, which is like comparing the Ford Model T to the Plymouth Fury. The Genesis came first. As it was the original 16-bit console it is only to be expected that it wouldn't be the most technologically advanced. What matters is the *content*, and both SNES and Genesis have had a ton of great games.

Anyway, the whole "battle" was just a marketing strategy, like the pointless rivalry between Prego and Ragu, which has also been going since I was a kid.

I don't think it is that necessary to have a 16-bit war like that. I mean you are just making games and game system that people would love to play all the time. I have to say that Nintendo might won the war against Sega at this time period, because the Super Nintendo is just s better system then the Genesis.
