This is basically a girls version of harvest moon

so you have a girl who wants to run a farm but when she gets there she finds out it hasn't been taken care of

so after punishing the mayor you start the farm and try to bring it back to its formal gorily.

Well if this is a discussion thread now, let's go.

I dabbled here and there in Harvest Moon games in the past, but was never really all the satisfied with the ones that pushed the whole date sim element because the main character was always male in those. I did love one of the GBC games (I think it was Harvest Moon 3) that gave a female main character option, though. That didn't have the relationship aspect, but I didn't really care. I just like the core gameplay of trying to manage your own farm. It's pretty neat.

I played a little of Friends of Mineral Town because it was an upgraded version of older Harvest Moon games, so it was obviously going to be better gameplay wise... but I wasn't too keen on the hooking up with girls part. Well, I was glad to learn about this version of the game, but could never find any actual trace of it anywhere. I remembered the game shortly after finding Vizzed and sure enough, you guys have it. I'm going to do a serious run now that I can play as a female character. I did notice they changed the intro a bit from what I remember it being in the original. The assault on the mayor was kinda funny.

I might start taking screenshots of my farm once I've actually gotten it built up some. Right now, I need to clear the area and then buy some seeds. I don't remember a lot of the specifics... like does how many times you use a tool affect its ability to be upgraded? I'm pretty sure it does, and then you have to go to the Blacksmith or something and buy the upgrade if you've used it enough... but I'm not completely sure. Either way, I'm sure I can figure it out as I go along. I'm not the type to read instructions/tutorials. I just jump right in and work things out as I go along :p

Crazy Li: It isn't meant to be sexist, it's just that during the transition from the previous generation to this one, there were still very few female gamers around. Thus, pretty much all games (and characters) were directed at the male fanbase. A lot of next-gen games feature both sexes in their character lineups more often, which means there are more and more female gamers getting on board. Harvest Moon has been around since the early days of SNES, so really Natsume has little excuse for not including more female roles in their upcoming games. Though there is only a male version, I would have to say the best game of the series is Harvest Moon: Back to Nature for the PS1. You may also want to give their Legend of the River King series a go.

I agree that Natsume should have made the option to incorporate female characters since he beginning, but at least they have realized the female market by now?Hopefully at least.

One of the HM games even allowed you to marry someone of the same gender, the Japanese version of HM DS Cute allowed you to 'move in' with your 'best friend' and adopt a baby together. Although this option was removed in America due to it possibly raising the ESRB-rating.

Here's a list of HM titles that allows you to play as a girl, arranged by year of release in Japan:

Harvest Moon 3 - Sept 29, 2000

Back to Nature for Girls  -  December 7, 2000 (The PS1 game was never translated into English, but the Girl version of Harvest Moon Boy & Girl is just this old game on the PSP.)

More Friends of Mineral Town -  December 12, 2003

Another Wonderful Life - July 8, 2004

Magical Melody -  March 3, 2005 (Released for both Game Cube and the WII, although once it was re-released on the WII, the option to play as a female was removed, and the controls were utterly screwed up. In my opinion...)

Harvest Moon: Boy & Girl - November 23, 2005 (Same game as Back to Nature for Girls, only re-released)

Harvest Moon DS Cute - December 8, 2005

Island of Happiness -  February 1, 2007

Tree of Tranquility - June 7, 2007

Sunshine Islands - February 21, 2008

Animal Parade - October 30, 2008

Grand Bazaar - December 18, 2008

The Tale of Two Towns - July 8, 2010

A New Beginning - February 23, 2012 (Not yet released in US or EU, date of release in US Nov 6, 2012)
