My favorite game of all time is Earthbound! This game in my opinion, set the standards for RPG'S today. I think it would be amazing if Nintendo would re-release Earthbound on either the Wii U or 3DS. What are your thoughts on this? Would it be successful? Reply!

I think it would be a successful port to both systems with updated graphics and more things to do it could be a full on 3-D game and still keep to it's roots. They should do it NOW!

They could totally do it but they'd undoubtedly anger fans for having to remove so much copyrighted content. Lots of the stuff in EB is content that nintendo could easily be sued for if they tried to rerelease it with the content being untouched.

I would love to see an Earthbound remake. It would probably succeed now days because it's more popular then it was back in 1994.

If it gets released for 3DS I'd buy it. I've never played earthbound. I had never played Ocerina of Time when it came out in 3D, then I bought the 3DS remake and loved it. Remakes are a great way to experience a game for the first time or for the millionth time.

  • Mother 1 (NES) was slated too close to the SNES.  They didn't think it was profitable.
  • Mother 1+2 (GBA) wasn't released in America due to the failure in sales that EarthBound had.  
  • Mother 3 was pretty much the same reason.  The petitions, though...  those should've convinced Nintendo and Creatures.
Why they haven't been re-released, though...  that is a good question.  Mother 1 could easily be re-released, with few changes, using the base code from the translated NES game.  Mother 3 would need a bit more work (Mr. Batty, some censoring) but could be easily done.  EarthBound would need a lot more work, but would be worth it in the end.  Nintendo and Creatures just need to see that the U.S. (and probably the UK and Australia) have a market for these games.  But they haven't. Yet...

Until then, this is what I say directly to the EarthBound Series:
~I believe in second chances, and that's why I believe in you~

Okay people, get it straight, it ain't gonna happen. So many features of EarthBound (Music, characters, etc) are ripped from heavily enforced, licensed material. And with Mother 3 not out in America, the EarthBound Masterpiece taken out of Super Smash Brothers Brawl, and no Ness or Lucas in Super Smash Brothers 4, the chances are the same as it might rain in Scaraba.
But getting out of being a believer of bad luck, I honestly would love the idea. If there really was a remake for the Wii U or 3DS, that would surely give the series a huge revival. And I would play it for hours :'D
But, with Earthbound not on the Virtual Console, it may never happen..... I really hope Mother 1, EarthBound, and Mother 3 rain to successful games, and Nintendo would cooperate and release them out for the fans. I really do.

Because ending a game with The End...? and then not continuing it can be a bit irritating.

Itoi has recently announced that something new for Mother will come, but it won't be a Mother 4, Meaning it'll be a remake. Possibly a combination of all 3 games, or one of the games in 3D. Who knows if it's gonna come to America, although long hated by Mother fans - Reggie Fils - Aime (however you spell it) said he'll try his best to bring it to America.
