I like both Mario and Luigi, but if I had to pick one I'd say Luigi. To me, he just seems to be underrated when you compare him to Mario. Luigi ends up standing off to the side while Mario hogs all the glory. This year is also 30 years ago that Luigi first appeared in a game. The first game he appeared in was Mario Bros. in 1983. 2013 is being called "the year of Luigi" and I like it. It's about time Luigi got some credit for what he does.

I say Luigi, his stats are a bit higher then Mario's.
I also pick him because he doesn't get enough love (well at least outside of this thread). He's not very liked by Nintendo, and he's sorta like a sidekick (I know he's also the brother) to Mario. and sidekicks gets less love then the main characters (Mario).

Luigi is cooler. Mario hogs up all the attention, luigi's moustache looks better, he is taller and I like the color green more than red. Also luigi is faster than him in mario kart. I just think he is awesome but he gets left out because of fat mario. But oh well, he is still a good character in my opinion. So those are my reasons for why I think he is better than mario who already gets way too much attention.

I prefer Mario's personality but gameplay wise Luigi wins for me. I like the ability to jump higher and I can deal with Luigi sliding around more. Also in Mario 2 (USA) there is no real reason to choose Mario over Luigi (I know that it's actually Doki Doki Panic but my point stl stands).

I am going to compare the characters because of who they are in the series and this one is an easy one to answer. Mario is a cruel person, I think his meanest time was when in Mario Tennis for the Gamecube. If you play as luigi and win the trophy you are celebrating and then at the end you see Luigi dancing around, having the day of his life winning something. When Mario comes on the screen he rubs his foot into Luigi's in a violent way. Luigi's mood is changed and his celebration ruined.... pure horrible. There are other really bad things Mario has done in his life but that was his most cruel.
