I don't think that'd be needed. A large reason I don't give out Viz is because people simply don't want it.

If there was suddenly a large demand for it, I'd just hoarde the thousands of Viz I make in a month, and give that out. As it stands only 1 or 2 people ever ask about rewards each month.

Oh, alright. I thought it'd be a nice offer to make any how. If you make thousands a month, though, I can see why Viz rewards would not be very appealing. What about other types of rewards? This contest only happens once/month, correct? If we got other types of awards - well, it wouldn't be too expensive to get real life items to give out. Especially if picked up in bulk. I don't know, maybe I'm just crazy. It was a nice idea while it lasted. (lol) 

Wow, I ranked two days in a row? If I keep up making 8 points every day for the rest of the month, I might actually stand a chance at winning.

So yeah, internet crapped out and I was gone for about two days, making it impossible for me to do anything.
I also broke even with Viz in the process, which is pretty good.

The idea of offering prizes is decent, but if you stick around long enough you'll see why it probably wouldn't work. Even with no prize to offer as an incentive, the VCS often results in a ton of spam and low quality posts by people attempting only to increment their post counts. Adding in a prize would probably increase activity making it harder for leggy to check for spam. Plus it would likely make the forums less enjoyable for those who only post here because they like to talk with other people. People like me, who don't want to sift through a ton of postCount++ before they come across something of actual substance. Of course, I could be wrong about that. Maybe prizes would add an incentive to quality posters who otherwise wouldn't care. But I think most of this site's quality posters are old enough that a $10 prize (just picking a price out of thin air) wouldn't mean much to them.

And apparently things are changing, so the VCS will be held every three months, just like the TdV. I'm just basing that off the fact that leggy said he'll host this every three months in one of his posts here, though. According to the FAQ it's every month.

Anyway, good luck with the competition. Maybe you can win with quality posts, and give me faith in a competition that has done nothing but hurt the quality of these forums since I've paid attention.

I'd offer to help check for spam but I am not sure how to access all the posts made for the day. Make the VCS into a quality competition. First, I gotta get a job though - and actually, I was considering going and buying large mixed lots of working video games and allowing the winners to pick from them. (With them being divided into "Prize Slots" according to value. But maybe that's too costly. Not so much so at every three months... but possibly every month. 

And I'm loving my post count - probably one of the only newbies that has come around with so many quality posts. I only had one that I kind of screwed - it was in the debate section on the same topic as one in the video game section, so I copied the post over and re-iterated my point. 

This is my 5th post, and I really don't want to break the rules. So if anyone has a question for me, following this post, please either PM it to me, or leave it on my profile, or it'll take me a day to get to your question in the thread.

Real life prizes are unlikely to ever happen, especially out of my pocket. See, I'm unemployed, and Vizzed is basically my full time job for now. It's only volunteer work, but I put close to 12-14 hours a day into this place, sometimes more if it's a really active day. If I got a job (I'm looking for one) I wouldn't be able to be as hands on as I am now, so I try to give the site what I can while I can. But getting back to the money, it's also against my policy to give out cash prizes for something that ultimately requires no effort. Given my need for cash, I wouldn't be comfortable giving that out. I also own very little property, so anything else in reality is completely out of the question unless someone else feels like putting something up.

No, you are right. I just haven't updated the VCS FAQ yet. The VCS, Tour de Vizzed, and an off month cycle in and out on a three month cycle. If I'm not mistaken, it looks like this.

It's also not your job to check for spam, lol. The moderators of this site occasionally tip me off in a VCS DQ thread, and if they offend enough, they get reported for spam in a staff forum. A regular user like you may go to any spam post you may find during your time and push the red "REPORT ABUSE" button that is just above said post. That's how you can help.

Also, the VCS has always been about quantity, while the TDV is about quality. I prefer quality over quantity, so to make the VCS more about quality, I DQ harshly when it comes to spam, and posting in spam forums.

If you ever feel like offering prizes for future VCS's (the next one is in December) contact me (or whoever may be running the VCS, I'm here now, but I won't be here forever) via PM, and I (or they) will get back to you.

Wow, that really shocked me - when I fell asleep earlier, Moboius was in the lead with 77 posts - he/she seriously got nerfed to 31? Wow... Real big shock to sign in and discover that I ended the day in the lead. Really nice surprise after a long, rough day.
