So Is there anything wrong with the sonic Adventure 2 ROM for you all? When i play it i get a big Tan or White or any color block right across my screen and i can only see the sides.
This is the only Dreamcast ISO i have downloaded well i do have Sonic Adventure 1 as an actually PC game disc so i thought that would have higher specifications than a sonic game on dreamcast.

So is there anything wrong with the ROM?

hey. what emulator are you using?
there shouldnt be anything wrong with the iso but i can check for you after we go through some other troubleshooting first, we want you to have the best experience you can

Im Using some form of Chankast. do you need to know which form or just chankast?

ok, do you have the bios files for it?
if so have you tried DEmul?
also you may need some graphics plugins.
my forte is sony and nintendo but with a bit of looking i'll get an answer.
(i have run shenmue through emu so its not like i havnt used a DC emu )

if i recall nulldc was the one i used
still looking for plugins, but you may not need them with one or both of these emulators

EDIT: yeah, NullDC comes with plugins it seems and they are probally the best ones you can use.
the plugins can be used with any DC emulator, just move them to the emu's plugin folder (normally named "plugins" )

O.K whenever i run sonic or a normal system start with no disc i get this happening to me.



and at the intro of Dreamcast its white blocks that somewhat resemble a spiral.

ok yeah ive seen this before.
they fixed it by changing the plugin from chakra to nulldc.
should be under options.

yeah i even got 2 nullpvr plugins in the folder and it still wont show up

strange i downloaded the NullDC from that same link and those same bios.
it said i needed a dll file, d3dx9_37.dll so i went and got that.
i put the dll file in the nulldc folder and the bios in the data folder in nulldc.
i had to rename dc_bios.bin to dc_boot.bin
i started it up and clicked system, start, no disk.



all looks fine so i went into options, select plugins and it showed the nullpvr as the selected plugin.

so i can say its not the emu, it must be something on your end.
have you updated your video card drivers, and what specs is it?
im running nulldc on a laptop with a nvidia geforce go 6150 at 128mb of ram

I know its not the best video card for games but Sonic DX runs fine on my computer and thats a remake of the Sonic Adventure 1 so i would expect it to have better graphics than both adventures on Dreamcast.

i will try finding the d3dx9_37.dll cause i know it says that for me and i will update my drivers

EDIT 1: Ok i got the plugin to show up but i get a messege saying

Unable to load NullPVR_Win32.dll plugin, errorlevel=-104

EDIT 2: And my drivers are up to date.

do you know how much video ram you have (not system ram)?
this maybe your problem, or you may need to update directx.

do you know if you have directx 9c installed on your machine?
you may need to update directx. it doesnt matter if you have directx 10, because that doesnt include all of 9c.

if this doesnt work we'll have to try you on another emulator or the next beta version of NullDC.

EDIT: have you been able to select the chankast plugin instead of the null one?

i have 251MB Video RAM

I just installed Directx 9c and the update.

and yes i got NULLPVR plugin to work but before it had to close out cause plugin didnt work.
O.K now i got the plugin and no errors happen when i run NULLPVR plugin!!!!

but only one problem... when i run NullPVR plugin i can hear everything and there is no errors but i cant see any picture the screen is just all black =/

Just one final thing we have to do to see picture and we got it. Do you know the solution for this problem?

Well i got the picture off from black somehow!
But now just one more problem.
When i run it the menus go fine and then bam the first level for Hero And Dark are like this so im guessing its for all the levels!

now that we at least have picture though, can you do a quick check and see if it works with the other plugin?
i know its a long shot, but you never know.
i just found out sonic adventure 2 is one of like 2 dreamcast games that if your going to get problems, you will get them with that game.
try and change every graphics setting one at a time to see if it helps.

another thing to try, get this file http://www.emudev.org/nullDC/Releases/Current/naomi_input_update.rar
and extract it into the nulldc folder and let it overwrite the drkMapleDevices_Win32.dll file, but make sure you have a backup copy of the original in case this one screws things up! dont want to have to start all over again

im looking around still but i think we're nearing the end of software fixes, this may be that your GPU just is overheating too much (hence the graphic artifacts) when you run the emu (might just need a more powerful one).
dreamcast emulation still isnt 100% or near as good, but NullDC is the closest at the moment.

Hmm k another game i was interested in was Powerstone 2... that will probaly work now though right?
Yeh that new Maple thing is horrible it wont even start up with it as a plugin!
