I think it should on Certain Circumstances if you can trade in your 3DS in for it and if you can keep the the SD card otherwise maybe it might be good for sales. You never know.

No I think it's a waste of money for the people who are thinking of buying it. Nintendo has done this already for the DSi. This is just a way of making money. The benefits of having a 3DS XL from the original 3DS are small. The only benefit you will get is having the screen bigger. It's not even great because the system itself will be bigger. A regular 3DS can fit in your pocket. I bet a 3DS XL will not. So I think it's just a waste.

It seems very unnecessary to be releasing another 'new' console every 8 months or so. The fact that Nintendo has developed this pattern as of late leaves my worrying for their future. If they keep saturating the market with products which are essentially nothing more than last year's model with one or two minor tweaks or additions, and then charge the same price they would for a whole new console, I fear even those most loyal to the brand will begin to sour on them. A good parallel would be Sega with all those peripherals they released for the Genesis. I sincerely hope he don't see Nintendo walking down that same path. I don't know what I would do without a new Zelda game every couple of years or so...

It usually never is necessary for a larger handheld. However, I don't see a reason why for them not to release a larger model for $20 more than its predecessor, which isn't going to be discontinued for a long while still. For new consumers, they may buy it for its size. Me, myself, I'd buy for size and it's longer battery life. It does add more battery life but that's the only significant difference..and at such a high price, I don't really see the point. It's cool though. Truthfully I wish I would've gotten an XL before I bought the original one, but it's a really..really high price. $200 for the system alone is a no go.

cnw64 : yeah the 3ds sold more than the DS did in its first year actually twice as many sales, it has over five million sales so far. and over 10 million games sold. the 3DS is doing very well so the XL is just adding sales

Hmm when I saw that they were releasing the 3DS XL along with New Super Mario Bros 2 for the 3DS, I was kind of surprised that they had revealed it. $200 dollars sounds kind of high though, but I may get it sometime after it comes out along with Zelda, Star Fox, and Mario Kart 7.

No, I like having a big screen. The DSi XL is pretty cool the screen makes the games I play so much more detailed. I have a 3DS so I'm not gonna get an XL.

The extra large screen is bad for kids, in my opinion, it makes their eye lens adjust to the screen faster, making them need some  sortof eye-aid, it was not necessary and a waste of money, better to buy a regular DS and save your eyes/money.
