           Could this be some good news for Star Wars fans? Rumors are spreading that “The Old Republic” maybe going free! According to gameinformer.com the highly popular game maybe experimenting with free to play gaming. During E3 “GI” (gameinformer) found out that the first 15 levels of “Star Wars The Old Republic” would be free before having to sign up for a monthly membership and pay a fee to continue. However, according to Emmanuel Lusinchi, the games leading developer, this might just be the beginning.

 

            Lusinchi said in an interview with GamesTM that free to play landscapes are increasing in quality which in a long run means more competition for TOR (The Old Republic).

 

            “The MMO is very dynamic so we need to be dynamic as well,” expressed Lusinchi. “ Unless people are happy with what they have, however, they keep requesting new updates, new modes and situations. So we are looking at the free to play. We have to adapt and be flexible,” Continued Lusinchi.

 

            However, will Bioware make the changes needed to make "The Old Republic" into a free to play game? Nothing has been confirmed yet, but Bioware is at least experimenting with having the first 15 levels be free, which could be a sign for things to come in the future. It is not known when The Old Republic will start having the first 15 levels being free, but one hopes that it will be soon.

I've heard about this a little and honestly, I'm not surprised. I purchased this game back in January...and I had fun playing it till about level 25..then I just got sick of it. It's really hard to find groups doing anything of any substance, and you really find yourself questing alone...it's a vastly different experience than an MMO like WoW. Not a lot of Player characters. It seems like they made too many servers or something like that. IDK what the deal is exactly, but I know I got bored of the game fast.

This free to play stuff isn't really that great though because you find in the long run you are a disadvantage to those who are paying for the game, so what's the point?

most times from what i have heard games go F2P because they aint doin well and devs wanna try a different approach mainly microtransactions. it works for some games, but it last i knew it really only succeeds so long as power is not sold. LoL is a good example of free to play. also i believe dust 514 will be another good example but we cant say for sure until it comes out

If they aren't F2P, then who the hell cares?

No game is worth a monthly fee. It should be one lump fee to buy the game, or a free to play game. With MMOs, it can go either way.

This would be so cool to have Free To Play. I don't even know if my computer would run it, but I'd still try. I love the Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic. If The Old republic became Free to Play that would be awesome.

i hate mmorpg's.
Crappy graphics.
Unrealistic.
Monthly fees for most.
Time consuming.
And of course the fans expected this to be a normal continuation of knights, but it turned out it was just another generic mmorpg.
