I think that getting a shiny
starter as you start the game
is one of the hardest things
to do in any Pokemon game.
After all, you get one chance,
and soft resetting will make
you go through the same
boring speech and/or cutscene
all over again.  Plus, the odds
are still 1 in 8192 of finding one...
