Save ingame, then press esc > go to save game > press enter > wait a little >  and when the ok appears on the screen press enter again >
you will return to the inicial menu > go to exit and press enter > have fun.

Note 1 : Everytime you save ingame you have to do this.

Note 2 : The game will load automatically.

I have never had to follow the steps that gabriel1073 gave. If I want to save in game, I just save like I would as if I were playing it on the SNES. It loads for me when I go back to the game later. But I tend to use save states, in which you simply press F2 to save and F4 to load that save state. However, if you are using a laptop where the F# keys have more than one function, you need to hold the fn key when you press F2 and F4.

It would work like that if he used the vizzed rgr plugin rcarter but reading his post carefully he uses the java emulator, which needs that to be done, and doens't suport save states
