Doing a quick Soc project, have you ever hit your sibling - brother or sister?

Yeah but usually because he hit me first. I try to use my words. Haha.

I have hit my brother for a good reason...and, I apologized after he admitted his wrong.

Yes. Only once have I done it without being "provoked" (as I consider it, that is). Most of the times we fought (my little brother and I, that is; my older brother and my sister never really fought with me, physically).

One day my brother, about two years younger than me, was trying to wake me up. He did it push me pretty hard against the bed and letting me bounce upwards off the bed springs and proceeded to continue the process. I didn't feel like getting up, and figured he's go away after a while. When he didn't I got frustrated and swung my arm at him, acting like he woke me up and surprised me. He never knew I did it on purpose. Probably wouldn't have cared. I still felt bad immediately.

Another time I threw sand in his eyes. Still feel bad about that one. He threw sand in my sisters face so I returned the favor. Apparently I grabbed a lot more sand, 'cause he had to have it flushed out of his eyes. We were little and I didn't know better. I've even asked him about it a few years ago and he can't even remember it. But for some reason my mom scolding me and telling me I could have blinded him still bothers me.

I'm really not that bad of a person -- I hope, at least. I've done what I could as I got older to become more mild mannered. Most of the time I fought he started it by hitting me or my sister, but I still feel like I could have handled things differently. There's no reason to have regret, but sometimes I can't help it.

soxfan849 : It's normal to feel bad about stuff you've done to your siblings. Gawd I could fill these place up with all the terrible things I've to my older brother (things that make your stories look not that bad). I feel bad about some of them too. But most of it... well, he had it comin'. Haha!

When I was younger, I did discipline my sibling (brother) but only when he was being disrespectful or did/said something he shouldn't have. My parents gave me permission as his older brother to discipline him if necessary, so I did. I don't see it as a bad or harmful thing.....if it's discipline.

KG : Thanks. My brother had it coming a few times, too. And I can still use those past experiences to learn from.

Oh yeah. My older brother and I got into all out brawls quite a few times growing up. We really have very different personalities and they often clashed. He was a high school wrestler, and he pretty much acted like one. I was not. I was more of a theater and forensics person. The only sport I really loved doing was Cross Country, which isn't really a jock sport. Anyway, when we were kids, he really had a feeling of superiority and showed it a lot. A lot of the time, his response to getting upset was getting physical about it. You can put the rest together. As for my little brother, we are 14 years apart. Our dad was gone before he was born. So I was a part of raising him, and there were times where he got a pop on the butt for discipline purposes only. I have never struck my little brother for any other reason.

My sister and I would tussle a bit back in the day. It was only within the last year or so that we really stopped fighting and disliking each other so much. It's funny, now we're like good siblings. However, my Dad has become much less awesome. Oh well. I keep hoping he'll stop being all depressing and lazy and [insert bad quality here] eventually/

I wouldn't really know because I am an only child, but I do know that physical discipline is cruel and barbaric. Parents and older siblings should first try to be reasonable before resorting to striking a younger child, at least that's what I believe.

Yes, but not recently. My twin sister and I would hit each other all the time when we were really young...up until 5th grade I would say. It would never get bloody or anything, but that's pretty much how we would let our frustrations out on each other. As we got older it would only resort to pushing/shoving. Now we are both 20, and barely even talk to each other let alone have physical contact. We have definitely matured since then and handle differences differently.

Me and younger brother fight way too much. We fight not because of hatred but rather really boredom. Everyone else I dont fight but argue

Well of course, I was a terrible child, and so were my sisters. We all had it coming. It's really no surprise that none of us made it past the age of 15...

I have - to no avail. I tried to keep my younger brother in check; meh, he's on his own now.

Is it me to blame, or his own faults, I dunno.
