I have played Resident Evil 5 for a while now and I am close to beating the game.  I realized that from the start, you are in Africa.  I understand that there are more blacks than whites in Africa, but when you get further into the game, you are not in that place anymore and there are still a few blacks.  Not racist enough? This may be a better understanding.  One of the zombies happen to be a big fat black guy, who happens to be hard to kill, and when you kill it, most of the time it would give you a giant gold ring (or whatever it is "jewel bangle" I think).  Does that seem a bit racist because you are white and you are shooting blacks.  I understand that some Resident Evil games would start out with blacks in the beginning, but having to see a lot of it makes it look a bit racist.  I may just be over exaggerating, but what do you think about this? Is this surprising to you?

Honestly, I think it only becomes racist ofter you think it's racist. They clearly meant no harm. If we were to all worry about little things in games making things look "racist" or "uncivilized" or anything like that, then we would get no where. For example, someone could get mad at Nintendo because Mario is racist for implying all Italians are fat plumbers, or even attack Pokemon because it's saying that animal fighting and capturing is a good thing.
The fact is, you will find a small bad point in EVERY game you play(Except Pong or Pac Man, most likely ), it's just the player that makes the game bad, not the game company.

These black people happen to be infected with a fictional virus that is used for biological terrorism. Getting a gold ring off a black person in a game is more like a joke or something that is only racist if you feel it is. This was a problem when Capcom first showed footage of their original build back whenever it came out. "A white guy killing a bunch of black people in a village?! Racist bastards!" But even IF racism is a topic of the game, or a theme, it would make the story seem more fleshed out. Look at it like this: Wesker is using these poor, disadvantaged people as subjects to test his B.O.W.'s. This should provide more of an incentive to put a stop to his schemes and what-not. But that being said, I do not believe this game is racist or has racist undertones. Naturally, in Africa, there will be a higher population of blacks than anyone else, but throughout the game you will encounter many enemies of various skin-tones and ethnic backgrounds. Middle-Eastern, Indian, etc.
In conclusion, I think your main concern is staying alive with Sheva's horrendus AI . . . good luck with that lol

Nowadays, people take everything to be racist. So you can't really say it isn't. But I think the developers were just trying to find a way to mix in different races so they wouldn't encounter problems like those.
