Personaly i think Mass Effect promised a lot but didn't give all it promised. Mass Effect's story was good and the gameplay is pretty solid, but the game designers had announced that there would be a huge open gallaxy, i have only found about a handfull of planets that are bigger than a small square on the minimap.
