It just keeps it simpler for me, in the games I've played, the Insomniac only hears in rooms adjacent to them, I envision things realistically, and as such have painted a real looking picture of this boat. You guys are in a circular hall of rooms on the boat's upper deck, and when people die, their rooms are empty. If the Insomniac lives next to the dead player, then they are made more useless in a sense.
