I guess it all depends on what Gamestop you go to, and who happens to be working that day. But I've personally never had a bad experience with Gamestop, whether it be delivery or in-store.

I agree with Whirlwind. It depends where you go and who you talk to. For instance there is a GameStop about 30 minutes from where I live. I've always had bad experiences here because of the employees. They're not very friendly. I basically got the vibe, "Get your crap, and get out of my face."
But later I went to a GameStop up by where my sister lives and they were really nice and friendly but all the games I got were so screwed up they wouldn't even run a START screen. It's really just a personal preference thing. It's a lot like GameStop VS. GameXChange.

I, personally, say "Screw all you guys" to retail and buy everything off Steam.

If I do somehow decide to buy a physical game, I buy online or hit up a local EB Games. But since 95% of what I play nowadays is on PC, I don't really have a need for the in-between retail person.

GameStop isn't that bad unless you buy the Guitar Hero games. I bought Guitar Hero 5 one day at GameStop, then brought it home, and couldn't play it since the game needed a Guitar...the game didn't come with the guitar.

Point is, be careful on what you buy there, you could get scammed easily.

I must say that I don't hate gamestop. They're usually not the best place to buy games from, but when you're looking for a game that's been out for a while and you don't want to pay for shipping it's great. I also love the buy two get one free used games deals.

Argus Swift : I absolutely love Steam. Before Steam I used to pirate just about everything. Even if I didn't want to play it, I'd pirate it just in case I wanted to later on.

Then I found Steam. My brother had bought the game Empire: Total War to play some co-op with me. But there was a problem. Steam would only let one person play the game online at a time. I felt cheated, but went out and bought another copy. Since then I've accumulated almost 50 different games.

I really never go there, not because I don't like them, just because they always seem a bit expensive for me. But, this is coming from somebody who gets a discount at Target.

People need to stop complaining about being "ripped off" when trading games at GameStop. They are doing you a favor taking the used games off your hands and giving you credit for it, even if it's not much.
You could all ways list your games on EBay and make much more money, but then you have to have an account linked to the EBay account, you have to ship the item to the person that's buying it, and hope the item arrives in good condition. Or you could go to GameStop where they will take your games on the spot with no hassle and just your signature needed.
Also all that happens with EBay, if anyone even buys your game because if it's not bought you have to pay to relist the item and that could eat up any money you make if the game sells for $10.

GameStop is usually a pretty good place to get games.  There are a few things that made me think on what to trust from them, but I still use them.  The first thing that happened was more or less my own fault.  I bought a used copy of Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion with another game and played the other game first for awhile.  When I finally played Oblivion and found out that it wouldn't play, I was past the return date.  It would get about two thirds of the way through loading for a new game, then freeze each time.  If they did check it, they probably just saw the intro screen and called it good.

The other actually happened to my mom and sister getting me games for Christmas.  Apparently, GameStop employs a ton of part time workers around the holidays, and they're not exactly trained.  After getting my presents and opening the cases the next day, I found them to be empty.  Both of them.  A call to the GameStop they bought it from got us a quick confirmation that they had two still in stock that should have been sold, and they gave them to us without any hassle.  The two things I took from this is to avoid buying used games from them (not like I've had that great of luck with used games elsewhere anyways) and avoid buying games close to the holidays.  Any other time, I've had no problem with them, and have done plenty of business with them.
