Well it's the fact that sometimes double jump does work sometimes it doesn't sometimes you jump high sometimes low and sometimes you don't have enough energy and start jumping slowly... Every jump is original I guess...

Canarith: remember that this is the offline controls, online controls will be easier since you wont be sharing the keyboard with anyone. Also it will later let you change your controls and even use a controller.


Everyone: Please note, with a budget like this, we're not trying to live up to 'Super Smash Bros' standards. Keep in mind that there will be more objects on the levels and also enemies. Some levels may be bigger, some smaller.

Also note that after this game is fully developed, the next thing we're gonna work on is making an adventure mode which you'll basically be able to travel thru levels based on classic games using anyone you want. Imagine playing with Mega Man on a Super Mario Bros level...would be interesting

But you guys can't forget the fact that this is only 24% complete and there is a lot yet to be implemented. I was hesitant on whether this was even ready for a demo release

And for anyone who knows flash or has worked with flash, this is very impressive for a flash game, especially compared to some other flash games out there.

Dragon Master: The jumping as I said needs fixing still. When you press the jump button, do it quickly otherwise if you hold it, you'll do a crappy double jump and lose energy. Make sure to press the jump button quickly and than press it again if you want to do a double ump.

You should be impressed with it being only 24% done and with a $2000 budget. Normal games have much more budget wise as well as employee wise and since this is only being done by a person or too I say its pretty damn good!

Thanks JigSaw, you have an understanding of how this stuff works so I'm glad you point that out. Yeah, this game is free, small budget, small team, and done in flash.

Also, it is only 24% complete, there are still 2 or so months left worth of development so this is a very early release.

Well the collision detection on the platforms is surprisingly good for a flash game. And running is spot on just fix the jumping and the combat and you might have something.

Your welcome I'm no programmer but I've tried and that stuff is not easy Anyone who has tried doing it themselves will respect and know that especially if they are bad at it like myself

The collision detectiong is very impressive.

Also, lets take a look at our only competition in the flash world...(not my game)

Go to the battle and VS mode where you can play with 2 players. It's glitchy, bad collision detection, and this is our only competition (not to mention VFB will be online multiplayer, this game here on newgrounds isn't). I see VFB being better than this game in every way....and this game got a 4.17 out of 5!

So I expect that when we submit the finished version of VFB to newgrounds, we may get a very high rating and I'm definitely confident we'll get a higher rating than this other game.

Yeah, I played that one on Newgrounds. I didnt like it very much.

And as I said, I expect VFB to be better in every way possible.

Additionally, notice how that game has over 4 million views - if VFB is better than that game, I expect we'll get hte same amount of views, if not more.

And when I submit VFB to newgrounds, only the offline version will be available, when the click 'online mode' they'll be taken to vizzed and have to register in order to play it online with others.

Now with that in mind, lets say 4 million people try out the game on newgrounds, and just 1% of them join vizzed to play it, that's about 40,000 people (throughout a couple years). And I'm sure if the game is good enough, more than 1% of the people who play it would join vizzed to play it online, or atleast just to try it out.

Ah, and so the evil scheme is finally revealed David. Shame on you .

Nothing really evil about it. They'd have to go to vizzed to be able to play it online anyway since the flash server is located here on vizzed. ANd if it works, it works

If I click yes, then everything freaks out (dont know how to describe it better), and its starts flashing random screens from the game at me. If I click no, the game proceeds normally.

Is this anything to worry about, and is it just on my end?

Must be just your end, you must have a really slow computer or a lot of programs open right now. If you play the game, make sure not to have other programs running, or atleast not to many programs.

Thanks for pointing that out though, I didn't get and I'm not sure what you would have done to get it

Either way, those kinds of issues will be fixed eventually and definitley before the final release of this game.

Well, I tried reinstalling Flash Player, and I made sure I had nothing else running. I still got the message AND a new problem. My actions:

*Open VFB
*Click Offline Mode
*Select Mario as my character
*Select Luigi as opponent
*Select Level
*Click Start
**----Loading Tiles----*
** script message *
*Click no

The first two times I played this, and clicked no I had no problems. This time however, Luigi did not load (the game is pretty much frozen) and instead the opponent's "head" kept flashing between Mario and Luigi and it looked like this (without the "flashing" since I cant really capture that) :

EDIT: Tested this "flashing head" problem and figured it out. On the Character select screen if you just click done without clicking on a character first it makes it look like it has chosen a character for you. But since none have been selected really, then the game freaks out when the battle starts.

I think I know what your issue is Canarith. You have to actually click on their mug shots before you actually click 'Done' for both characters.

Were the heads appearing to bobble up and down?

Yeah. I figured that out David. Maybe some sort of error checking should be put into place for this?

Still cant figure out the script error I am getting. I will keep you posted on it.

Yeah I'm clueless than. Maybe trying playing it in a different internet browser.

Ok, tested in IE, and am still getting the Flash Player script error. I guess this is just on my end then, so I will look in to it.

Well the next demo should fix this problem. And I will also post an .exe file of the next demo also.
