Pre-Fanfic Chapter 1: Story Ideas
(Hmm.... What sort of story idea would I want to come up with?)
Me: Let's see...
Mario and Sonic Meet Kirby This is too general, and too broad.
Mario and Luigi's Adventures with Dash Light This might get bad reviews because it contains an original character. Not a bad idea after all!
Cooking Mario All it has is cooking, so why do this?
Mario and Luigi Visit Rainbow Land See the first fanfic idea for the reason why I rejected this one.
The Makings of two Great Heroes
Man, I can't seem to come up with anything!
Wait a Minute...
"Mario and Luigi's Adventures with Dash Light in the Video Game Universe" Yeah! That's it! This will make for a great fan fiction!
Pre-Fanfic Chapter 2: Character Bio and How Perspective Shifts Work.
Hi, I'm Dash Light, a human with light brown hair who wears a yellow shirt, blue jeans, and white Nike™ shoes, but my special power is transforming into any thing from a video game universe. For example, I can transform into Mario, everyone’s favorite plumber, or Sonic from the planet of Mobius. If you follow my adventures with Mario and Luigi, you can see my transformation power will be the most often used power. What I can change into varies depending upon the universe. For example, if Mario and I are in Sonic’s world which varies depending on the type of world, then I will be able to transform into Sonic, Tails, Knuckles Amy, Eggman, or any character of the Sonic Universe. The same thing goes for Kirby, NiGHTS, Street Fighter, Chu Chu Rocket, etc… However, even though I have a different character’s body, I still retain my original voice. It’s kind of like Super Mario 64 DS where any Mario character can put on the hat of a different character to look like them, but they retain their original voices, except without the hats.
With that out of the way, let's explain how perspective shifts work.
Perspectives can change. Most of the time, I'll be using first or third person, but on occasion, I'll be using second person. When a perspective is about to change, look for perspective clues in the story, such as an underlined word in the dialogue.
For example, "Mario was running as hard as he could, preparing to take
first place."
The underline word may indicate the style of perspective, such as the one above. or in this case...
"Princess Peach looked on in horror as she saw
my body in free fall."
...it may use a key word associated with that perspective.
Also, you may notice some changes from scr
ipt to scr
ipt. This is because I'll be using three different scr
ipt formats throughout this story.
The first one is the Storybook scr
ipt, which is the one I'll be using most often. Here, the dialogue is written in quotes, and actions are described through narration, so as to paint a picture of what action is taking place. This method is best outside of any worlds that are styled in the style of an RPG.
Example: "How are you doing Mario?" asked Luigi. "I'm doing pretty good, Luigi." replied Mario.
The next one is the transcr
ipt format. You get the best results when you use this scr
ipt in RPG-styled worlds outside of a fight. Here, the character's name is written before the line they say, with actions written using parentheses.
Example:
sonic : Hello Cream, how are you doing?
Cream: Hey, Mr. Sonic. It's been a long time since I've seen you!
(birds chirping)
The last one is the most special one. It is the RPG transcr
ipt. This transcr
ipt adapts to RPGs from the eighties and nineties, specifically, Pokémon Red and Blue. This transcr
ipt is most commonly used during an RPG battle. Character names, items used, and attacks are always written in all caps! Conditions inflicted will replace the level number of the characters, and are also written with a three letter abbreviation, which again, are done in all caps. Stats will also be displayed.
Example:
DASH LIGHT
Lv. 6
HP: 100/100
FP: 50/50
SP: 90/90
BP: 100/100
MP: 90/100
TP: 25/25
SWM: 10
FLY: 30
RUN: 80
PWR: 30
ATK: 50
DEF: 40
LCK: 100
INT: 150
The battle will not show all of those stats because the other characters need their stats as well.
Example Battle:
SONIC vs. KNUCKLES
SONIC HP: 100/100 FP: 35/35 SP: 100/100
Enemy KNUCKLES HP: 200/200 FP: 100/100 SP: 900/900
Enemy KNUCKLES used DIG!
Enemy KNUCKLES dug a hole!
SONIC used SPIN DASH!
But it failed!
Enemy Knuckles used DIG!
sonic : -30 HP
It's super effective!
That's it! Stay tuned to see the real adventures.
