Look for instance at a newbie's username vs a regular username:

If there were someway to extra bold/thicken text than it might work, just not something as easy as <b> or <font style="bold"> or anything like that.

Yes..I do like seeing my name italicized, which is one of the reasons why I try to keep it that way. It's italicized almost everyday.
