I really liked the manga, but oddly, found the anime a little dull in comparison. I was devouring the books! But it took me forever to get through the series. Some things are better read than watched and vice versa, I believe. But the animation was beautiful! I still like the anime, but the manga was better. (Matter of opinion, what can I say?) Plus, things started going downhill after a certain part of the show. I like Near and all, but he's nothing near as cool as L. No, that pun was not intentional, but I didn't know how else to word that.

Mostly because you can read a heck of a lot faster than the show goes... I could read 2 Mangas of Death Note before 1 EPISODE of the Anime was done. I mean, it's a great visual experience, it really brings the Manga to life, but I too like the manga better.

I've seen the English dub and I think they did a fairly good job. Light's voice actor does pretty well. Some English dubs are horrible, but there are a few out there that make actually make the anime better.

Death Note is one of my favorite anime. It's definatly dark and sinister though. There is a bit of humor but not much. It has an iteresting array of charactors though. If you would prefere a quick version of the anime I would suggest Death Note 1, DN The last Name, Or L Change the world. All are good. The Manga wasnt my favorite but it was ok.
