I know,or at least I think I have, said this before, but weed has been legalized in 3 states for recreational use in the United States, with Washington State being one of them. I think as long as there is some kind of fee the sellers have to pay to the government, I support it. But, it should only be allowed in certain areas, just like smoking is only allowed in certain areas now.

No way, it should not be legalized. All my old housemates in college were pot smokers and they were all lazy and were failing their subjects... Given, it could of just been part of their personalities, it might not of been the weed's fault. However, I've never seen anything positive come from pot (except maybe a few good songs from famous artists).

samyy : Except for that it has been found to be beneficial to people medically. Especially for cancer patients.

The "lazy" thing could be with regards to anything. Alcohol is legal, what do you think of people that drink all the time??

The point is that you can ABUSE any drug. Heck, kids started ingesting/smoking bath salts for crying out loud and those were totally legal and had HORRIBLE effects on people.

Jordanv78 : Yeah I totally believe in medicinal use of pot; that doesn't mean I believe it should be legalized for recreational use.
That's two separate topics of debate.

Well, I'd have to say yes. The whole reason it's illegal, is because of the smear campaign run against it, by those who had very obvious reason to deceive law makers. Namely the man (who's name I forget at the moment) with investments in the paper industry. He wanted to protect them, because people were discovering that hemp was a cheaper alternative. A lot of the things said about marijuana were very untrue. It may be mentally addictive, but so are many, many things. There are a lot of pro's to legalizing it, mostly hemp. It can make a lot of things, including an alternative to wood, if it's compressed enough. Besides, it's here anyway! It's not going away, just because the government doesn't want it there.
