My favorite 1st Gen would defiantly have to be ARCANINE, because well for starters it's a legendary Pokémon, uses Dragon Breath AND solar beam.

oh, this is a hard one. ut is a three tie between Dragonite, Charizard, and Mew for me... I like the ability to fly, and then Mew is just awesome. Snorlax is up there, though.

I would say Magikarp, apparently if you raise it right, it has ridiculously high speed, and if you equip it with a focus sash, and have it learn Flail and bounce, you can destroy entire teams with it.

These people all say mew or mewtwo. They are all awesome when you think about it. But since we are talking about gen 1 only i would have to say Gengar. It it may still be weak against psychic types (also one of its main weaknesses; psychic types are weak against ghost types) but it can have some pretty amazing speed (up to 375) as well as most TM's.

My favorite 1st Generation Pokemon. Now that is sort of tough. I like many of them. Tauros,  Blastoise, Pidgeot, Charizard, Venusaur, Dragonite. There are probably more that I cannot think of. Out of those however, I would have to say that my favorite out of all of them is Blastoise. He has what I think is a very cool design. I mean a turtle with cannons, that's pretty cool. For FireRef at least, it was very useful in fighting, even if it was overshadowed by my Pidgeot, which I used extremely often, and my Dragonite, which I trained all the way from a Dratini. It was always useful when I needed it and I'm sure that it helped me through the game on more then one occasion. Especially the first gy,. which I'm sure was much easier than it would have been without him.

So, a Pokemon with a good design, and even though it isn't great competitively, it is good in the game. Of course it woul;d be my favorite pokemon. It isn't overpowered, but good, and it isn't weak.
