I say 2012 will be an unevent because people will be doing crazy sruff thinking they wont have any consiquences. When the world doesnt end there will be much crime and poverty because people did not think there would still be a world when it came time to pay.

Isn't there supposed to be a 1000 years of peace or something, I'm sure you won't live that long, but it's gonna get bad way before it gets good.

In 6.5 billion years, when the sun explodes (It will also implode) it will expand consuming the first four planets. But, before it actually consumes the Earth it will superheat everything living, killing them almost instantly. I am not saying the human race will last that long.

How do we know if the world is going to end in 2012?
The only reason people believe that is because the mayan calender ends in 2012.
But the point is, no one knows when the world will end.
I've seen alot of theories on how the world will end and they may happen but someone has to give me solid proof in order for me to be convinced.

Yeah, I know everybody is all hopped up about 2012... but I really think that in thinking that the end is near, that we may bring about it... think of everyone doing things that they think "won't matter anyhow" and you'll see what I mean...

Our sun is 4.5 billion years old. It is known to stay at it's mainsequence state for another 5.5 billion years, once it hits that times end it will have consumed all of it's hydrogen reserves and will expand into what is known as a Red Giant, it will expand and become so massive that it will consume most if not all of our solor system. The only thing that keeps it from exploding is because it still has helium to burn. Because at first it burn hydrogen and when you do that it creates helium. Once all of the helium is used up, it will become very dense and becomes a white dwarf. A few other things.

I think that there is possible life out in our universe, there are 100's of Billions of Galaxies and within those 100's of Billions, each one has 100's of billions of stars. Considering that our sun is 1 star out of the 100's of billions of stars in our Milky Way Galaxy. There is possibility that there is another star with the right sized planet within the right amount of distance from their star (sun) that is the right size and is tilted on it's axis at the right angle. there are 100's of trillions of possibilities.

I like to think that there is. It is not likely to travel there unless we can create of livable vessel that can travel and is big enough to hold most of mankind. I mean the people that create it won't be alive if we were to reach someplace, but the human race will.

Also, the Earth will most likely be ended by man. Not God. Whether it be green house gases or nukes or over population (very probible if we last another 300 years, look it up). If God were to come that would not be the end of mankind I can tell you that.

Some of what I say might be jumbled because I said a lot, so tell me if it is and I will clear it up. I know a lot about space. I just mix up my thoughts sometimes.

Seriously though, the mayan calendar is not a good vantage point for the end of the world. So much skepticism goes into this, but conspiracy theorist thrive on this crap. I suppose it gives them something to do instead of stalk celebrities, and download pr0n. If the world really does end in 2012, regardless of what im doing, I dont foresee myself not being able to come to terms with it. Ill be 26 at that point, and thus far i have had a pretty enjoyable/fulfilling life.

The end of the world will nto happen for atleast another 50 years or sooner because of global warming issues and tensions of countries.

[sigh]... global warming will not end the world. Only Al Gore and a few other crazies actually believe that the sea level is going to rise 20 meters any time soon. And even if it does... humans will survive. We're tough like that. Sure things will change if that actually ends up happening... but I find it hard to believe that global warming is going to be as bad as some people claim.

The world wont end from global warming.. Im pretty sure we are going to find another, much, much worse way to bring about our own demise, and it will be a lot faster too.

I agree, if the world ends anytime soon, it will have probably have been us, that has brought on our own destruction.

Theory One: We will kill ourselves off.

This is the most likely threat of extinction in the next 100 years. Tensions among the US, China, Russia, North Korea, even Europe is growing, and if one country or group launches one nuke, then the other side returns, then a third party nukes them both to stop them... you get my point. We need to learn to live and let live as citizens of Earth, and not let mundane things like nationality and beliefs come between us. We will never all agree on one specific issue, and there always will be war, but we can all get along to the point we don't kill our selves off.

Theory Two: Climate change will make Earth uninhabitable.

It will happen in a century or two at our current rate of destroying the planet, but if the oceans flood, we could build ships, and if the Earth becomes a desert wasteland, space is always an option. On the ISS, they are already experimenting with creating ecosystems in space. We could also settle Mars, it's actually not even that hard to do, but it takes time. If we are to settle Mars by the time Earth gives out, we need to start now. It wouldn't be impossible to live through this one, even if we stayed on Earth, but life would be difficult for the few who would survive.

Theory Three: The Sun expanding and consuming Earth

This one will happen no matter what. The Sun will eventually die, but it won't happen for approx. 5-6 billion years, so no worries on this one for our lifetime, though we owe it to future generations to start research on ways to live without Earth.
