legacyme3 : Muslims have to be burried within 24 hours of dieing...and with keeping with that to avoid as much international conflict as possible, they tried to find a place to bury him. Besides, what would the US gain from lying about his death...and HOW could they lie about his death. If Osama is still alive, he will just come out with a new video saying "HEY GUYS I'M STILL ALIVE, I DON'T KNOW WHAT THE H*LL YOUR TALKING ABOUT"

But what if he is alive, and this is a coverup. Maybe there IS a video, but the US government is covering it up. They obviously don't want to look bad. This is good for America as a people, giving them something to believe in. If the government is lying though, and they are caught, it will be bad for everyone.

The thing with water burial in muslim tradition...

It's rarely done anymore, being reserved for those who promoted the name of Islam. Osama bin Laden is an international criminal, I highly doubt the US is suddenly going to decide to be honorable and say he promoted the name of Islam, or that Islam is a terrible religion by saying he embodied the culture.

Anyone can lie about death. I could stage the death of someone, and have them simply be cut off from announcing I am a liar by many means. Whether they have him captured, held down, or are censoring whatever he says, he can't get his message out.

The US gains peace of mind if they are lying about this.

Think, he's been on the run for almost 10 freaking years. The people would rejoice if he was killed or captured. Because people THINK he is dead, whether he is or not, they are celebrating as you see. Which is fine, celebrate his "death" if need be, but if he's alive, they are only going to end up feeling remorseful.

I don't care whether he's alive or dead. I just want the government to give the full story for once. They owe the American people that.

legacyme3 : What would they gain from making a cover up...There is no way they would say for a fact that Osama is dead without Osama actually being dead...the only way it is a cover up is if the US government is in on 9/11 with Osama...And I really think that is a stretch, as there were witnesses in Pakistan to what happened. There was even a guy tweeting about the helicopters. But hey who knows, maybe Osama is down in Hawaii right now, chilling with Elvis, Michael Jackson, Biggie, Tupac and Jimmie Hoffa.

Perhaps America wants Pakistani support, so we have to give them support in return.

Maybe they are in on this, and maybe they aren't.

The thing about things like this is conspiracy theories will arise. The text books will say he was killed May 1st 2011. But I think that's about as likely as his previously reported death 3 years ago.

I might never believe he's dead, I could be 50 and somehow think he still was alive on May 1st 2011, even if he's long dead.

I don't think it even matters, because this does NOT end terrorism. The Pakistani Taliban has said if Osama had died, they would take immediate action in retribution. So if we killed Osama, sweet, but we are about to get s*** on again.

This is only the beginning of what could be an even more violent struggle.

legacyme3 : Osama Bin Laden has been the face of terrorism for the last 10 years. He is the figure head for Al Qaeda. Killing him is basically cutting of the head of terrorism, not forever, but for right now. Unless Osama Himself is in on this, I seriously doubt this is a cover up by the USA.

I read your take on it, and when I think of the implications of his alleged death, it makes me ponder a lot of how things work in the religious world. I'm thinking from mostly a political stance so I don't think as much of the implications of repenting and that stuff. It was a thinker for sure.

There were signs he was losing influence with the organization anyway, so his loss isn't even a huge blow for them. They seem to have tossed him to the side and been focusing on other members. I don't think that terror will be averted by much if at all.

Sure this is nice for the American people, but I don't think it's the cure all that some people see it as even in his alleged death.

Whether he is dead or not, the threat still remains.

Now I'm starting to have mixed feelings about this. Here's why:

*The government has decided NOT to show pictures of the dead body. Therefore, there is no actual "proof" that this happened.

*The US government ratings have been down in the toilet, and all they need is something like this to make the citizens wave flags and be all patriotic, and love the government again. Notice how relatively quickly Obama got that speech together, and then delivered it flawlessly? This could've been in planning for a while.

There was a report 3 years ago how he had been killed. It ended up being false, and it was kinda pathetic.

It was a lot less feasible then to catch him. Plus, I always thought Bush was completely incompetant anyway.

Bush kinda fails at everything, which is why he couldn't get away with it.
