The Mystery Dungeon series have always been special to me, mainly because it allowed me to effectively BE the Pokemon for once. This whole concept changed how I played Pokemon, and was a welcome distraction from my normal gaming.
The graphics are about as good as other GBA games, and being able to see attack in real-time is cool. However it didn't really pop out to me.
Sound and music was ok, and hearing some sound effects to the moves I used was interesting. Personally I didn't like the music tracks all too much but everyone has their own tastes you know?
This game can be highly replayable for 2 reasons. One is the large amount of starters to choose from, as you get over 10 choices for either gender. The second is that every dungeon has a random floor generator, making it never be the same as last time.
The story I liked, and had a few twists in it to throw me off. Thankfully it wasn't one surprise after another, but the overall plot was sufficient for this game.
The game was a decent length, and having about a dozen dungeons before beating the main plot was enough to keep many occupied. Having several dungeons and legendaries afterwards too helped prolong the game. While it isn't on the scale of lets say Final Fantasy, it is still a pretty long game.
Difficulty, is like all other Pokemon games. Based on the Pokemon you choose and if you choose to train, the game can be difficult or easy. Admittedly Rayquaza at the end is a bit tough if you can't attack it for super-effective, but overall the game is a decent amount of difficulty.
