Do you think we as teens should be able to get our permit at age 15?

All of the restrictions that they place on 16 and 17 year old drivers does not make it worth it in my opinion... you cannot have a passenger under age 25, you can only drive during the day... you go to jail if you violate either of those rules. What is the point unless you have no friends and only drive the car to school and back, and work a weekend job that gets off before sunset.

Personally, I didn't get my license until I was 21 because my folks didn't want to pay for the insurance, and I didn't make enough to do it myself, or to get a car... but they got tired of driving me places so they finally caved. Interestingly enough, the California DMV seems to have issued me my driver's license number(also state ID number) when I turned 16, so it shows up on my record like I have had my license since age 16... and I am fine with that because I started getting the Good Driver discount from the get go.

I think 18 is okay, and I also think they should bring back drivers ed in school to help you prepare for it. Also, if you are caught texting while driving and are under 18 I think you should lose your license period.

Nope, I think it should be increased to eighteen or twenty. Most teens are not responsible enough to drive at that age. And I didn't post that to get a "I'm responsible for my age" reply. Just because one teen might be responsible enough doesn't mean that there's not five hundred more texting and playing around while driving.

Ah yes, I remember when I was in High School. My friends would give me rides and for some reason they felt like they needed to speed around every corner. I remember one time, we hit the curb and almost parked on the sidewalk. Hahaha.

No because that age is very young. Having it at 16 is okay, just wait another year, it doesn't hurt that bad.

If 15 year-olds could drive, countless people would be killed by recklessness and irresponsibility. Its not that ALL of them cant drive well, its just that too many of them are like that.

My answer is neutral here. I was in my first fender bender at age 17. I was not being stupid I can assure you. However, I was doing some reckless driving last year. I literally scared myself straight when I was doing 85 in a 55 mph zone --no accident occurred. Now I stick to the speed limit when I am on the highway at least.

As far as when it is best for someone to get his or her driver's license, I am undecided. Not everyone is reckless, but we know it happens all too often.

I think getting a permit at 15 is just fine. A parent will be in the car with them every time they drive, so there won't be any distractions(unless the parents are horrible). The way it works here in WV is that you can get your permit at 15 and a license at 16, but you have to have so many hours of actual driving, but you don't get a full license until you're 18. There are restrictions, like you can't have other teenagers in the car other than family until you've had your license for so long and you work your way up.

Anyone can make a mistake or just drive badly at any age, but young people and old people are much more likely to do it. I have nearly been run over by young and old people.
The trouble with young people is that they are too distracted by other things happening in their car, whether it be a cell or something else. A yong person is just not able to make those split second decisions that years of experience impart.
