Last night I beat Shadow Hearts 1. I'm not gonna go too deeply into it as I have my own gaming blog thread that I'm reserving my full thoughts for, but overall I think it's "just pretty good". The combat is entertaining enough, although battles go on a little long sometimes toward the second half of the game. The characters are certainly... unique... I think toward every single major character I said "what the hell is wrong with you?" at least twice. Normally this is funny! But it got old pretty quickly in this instance.

I'm hearing the sequel is leaps and bounds a better game though, so I'm excited to start it tonight.

I decided to replay the original Starcraft and beat that just recently. It was SO much easier than I remember. I think only the last 2 or 3 levels even gave me any issues at all. The rest were just a breeze to get through. I was a little surprised because in my memory the game was much harder to beat than that.

I've since moved on to Brood War and realized that my memory of the difficulty of this game is from the expansion. It's not crazy difficult yet but I've had to be a lot more careful and spent a lot more time reacting to things than I had to in the original game. I'm totally happy for that. I like a reasonable challenge in the games I play. Not too easy and not too difficult. The expansion is definitely hitting that balance well so far. The only level I had to replay had Kerrigan in it and I wasn't paying attention to her and she died in a stupid way. Otherwise I've just had to slowly work my way through each level methodically and beat it. I'm really enjoying replaying these older games and I plan to replay Warcraft 2 and 3 as well.
