Why do you guys think Zel did not finish Kanto in Pokemon Shiny Gold? I think he has either quit making Kanto, never even tried to make Kanto, or is taking a very huge break because it has been 4 years since the game came out. So really why do you guys think it's not done?

If it's been 4 years, then my first guess would be he quit. I got the impression that the Gold and Crystal copies were meant to be the Johto game with Hoenn graphics. Once you finish that region, you have beaten the main game. I haven't played any of those hacks, but you could try out the two games that are copies of Crystal. Maybe those ones last longer.
