I've been making a few videos and posting them to YouTube with my referral link to try to get some extra Viz. I've been using CamStudio, but I keep having the same problem. The game runs normally when I'm playing without CamStudio, but when I'm recording the lag is unbelievably bad.

I was able to get away with it with some SNES games by editing to make it more of a highlights video, but I would like to do some Let's Play videos for some shorter games.

Keep in mind that I'm looking for a completely free program. I'm not interested in going out and buying some fancy program just to make some extra Viz. I don't want "Free to Try" because it will eventually run out and become useless and I'll be back to having no programs.

Does anyone know of any program that won't cause it to lag while it records?

Honestly I've been noticing that too.

My only suggestion is to try closing all background windows, cancelling/pausing all downloads, and doing the same to all other computers/devices that are connected to the same internet connection. Either that or get a computer with a really fast processor (I've used a friends Quad-Core and the program works fine), otherwise I think you're screwed. Because the program does so much at once, PLUS having a game running, it could be causing a slight lag in your computer.
