I personally think they should allow priest to get marry inorder to motivate men to become priest specially for those men who wants to have children in the future.

I thought that it was only Catholic priests that could not marry, and that Protestant priests could. Please, correct me if I am in error.

That aside, I agree with you. Also it would help prevent things like the molestation scandals that have rocked the Catholic church in recent years.

Elara : Yes you are right it is the catholic church who believe the priest shouldn't marry.

But I believe that that is going against the Bible, I am just paraphrasing but it says if you cannot contain yourself then you should marry (of course it is the fix for people who believe that you shouldn't have sex out of marriage) but that scripture pretty much says it all

Good point, I mean, if it said it in the Bible that priests cannot marry then I would see how it came to pass, however it doesn't say it. Which makes me feel that I have to ask this: where exactly did the doctrine that Catholic priests cannot marry come from?

The Bible doesn't condemn or require Christians to marry. It's not a sin to marry. In 1 Corinthians 7, Paul talks about this very issue about married life, and it's written that marriage is not a sin. However Paul also says that it is good to stay unmarried and those who married will face many troubles. So basically, he wants to warn Christians about the challenges one would face being married, but he does not condemn it.

I have a feeling that the Catholic church does this because those who are in Priesthood are to devote their lives to God, and not to anything else. They might think that a married life would be a distraction to devoting a life for God. Now...obviously the Bible does not say that. In fact, when talking about Bishops and deacons, it is written that they are allowed to marry (1 Timothy 3).

Technically, Protestants don't have "priests", though some Lutheran and Anglican churches still have priests. This is because Protestants believe in the Christian doctrine of "Priesthood of all believers," meaning that ALL Christians have a right and a responsibility to study and preach the Christian faith.

I would say this though, if a person who thought about being a priest but decided not to because of not being able to marry, his heart is not devoted to God anyways. So it's not that allow them to marry would motivate them to be priests, they don't have their hearts towards God anyways, they are probably not called into that position according to the Catholic Church and Eastern Orthodox's standard.

In Matthew 8:14, we see that Peter (whom the Roman Catholic church maintains was the first pope) was married, as were many of the other apostles (see 1 Corinthians 9:5 for example). Actually the Bible says, "if they cannot exercise self-control, let them marry. For it is better to marry than to burn with passion" (1 Corinthians 7:9).

I wouldn't say that marriage keeps a person from the ministry of the Lord at all. I'd say that in some cases a church with a priest order will hold their own traditions to be above scripture.

Yeah, they should be able to marry, because they need a wife, that's why all of the molestations happened, like Elara said.

Like tRIUNE said, if they can't control themselves, they could marry.

I honestly believe it's ridiculous to not be able to marry, nuns and priests and such. The first commandment god ever gave humanity was to go forth and multiply, and since fornication is a sin we all need to marry in order to procreate. How can one claim to truly serve god if they break the first and one of the most vital commandments he's given us? We need to have children to keep bringing souls down from heaven so that every soul can receive a body and experience life on earth. We need to marry to be able to bring those children into a family. I believe one can devote them self to the lord and to their family at the same time, wholeheartedly.
